Time and time again this has been proven to be a fool’s errand – which explains why the Green party pursue it with such vigour. And why Luxon has decided to join them.
Let’s be clear. Auckland Council doesn’t own council venues. Ratepayers own them. Auckland Council can’t stop people using them without good reason. And having opposing ideological views isn’t one of them.
National doesn’t save us from ‘communism by stealth’. It enables it. Only principled opposition, with enough power to be effective, will lead us back towards personal responsibility and prosperity.
Yet another example of a leader caught flat-footed on basic politics, reaching for safe corporate language when a simple ‘no’ would have done.
