After a spike in crime over the past month, including ram raids, government has announced a near-$600 million package.

Minister for Justice Kris Faafoi says recent youth offending must be addressed. “Our response needs to address the root causes of crime, especially when it relates to young people, provide more rehabilitation to reduce reoffending and actively pursue and prosecute those who participate in illegal gang activity.”

Police minister Poto Williams says the package will address the rise in ram raids.
