An amateur attempt at deflection by Ms Nanaia Mahuta… The people who are calling for transparency and accountability aren’t trolls hiding “behind pseudonyms”, but other Government ministers and the media.
She said it led to “cartoons, memes, social media posts and commentary which you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy”.
Mahuta acknowledged the need for transparency and accountability.
“As a politician, I accept that. But when you go to a level of toxic trolling and use of social media to push a certain narrative, to create a certain perception, I worry about that.”

When you enter politics, you become a public figure: that’s the nature of the job. There’s no room for hurty feelings, especially if you’re being called out and the prevalent perception is not your preferred narrative.
If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
