Even in his early school years, Lloyd Burr knew he was gay.
Burr was never interested in games of “catch and kiss” with girls. From 6 years old, he used to think, ‘do I get to catch the boys and kiss them?’
Burr, a political reporter for Newshub, is the latest guest on Stuff’s Full Disclosure podcast hosted by Karen O’Leary.
On the podcast, he explains how keeping his sexuality secret for almost 20 years negatively affected his mental health.
“I convinced myself that the world would hate me, and the older I got, the more intense that feeling got because you’re like, ‘I’m so deep now, I’m so deep in this lie that I can’t come back from it’.”
