It may only be the first day of the Black Caps’ home season but Will Young’s incredible snare of Shoriful Islam on Sunday will be awfully hard to beat for catch of the summer.

Fresh from scoring 105 off 84 balls – his third ODI century in New Zealand’s 44-run win over Bangladesh in the first one-day international in Dunedin – Young made his most significant contribution to the highlights reel late in the match.

As Shoriful swung an Adam Milne delivery high to deep mid-wicket, Young appeared to terribly misjudge what looked a regulation catch on the boundary.

He realised his error, having run in too far, and recovered to thrust out his right hand and grab a scarcely believable catch as he fell and rolled just inside the boundary rope.
