Industry leaders, including from Stuff, made their case for the Government to keep working on a law that would force internet giants like Google and Facebook to pay for news, first started by the Labour Government, at a select committee in Wellington on Thursday.

Lee said she will look at the Bill once it goes through the select committee process – due to finish in May – to see whether it should go forward. It is part of a global trend to make internet giants pay for news. Canada and Australia have passed similar legislation.
