Around New Zealand, crime rates continue to rise. Last night Newshub published an article focusing on burglaries and theft, and the impact on victims.

“We’ve certainly seen an increase in the last 12 to 18 months,” [Canterbury Metro Commander] Superintendent Lane Todd told Newshub.

It’s the most invasive thefts that are up.

From August 2021 to August 2022, national property crimes are up by more than 28,000. Auckland is up by 11,000 and Christchurch 5,633.
