The headline falsely states that sewage is being put down city drains which falsely leads the public to believe that sewage is now going into the sea. They also deliberately link those in the hospital with the sewage to make readers think that the two things are related.
In the body of the article they state:
Plumbing has been installed to flush sewage into Wellington’s pipe network.
They also describe it as:
[…] evidence of an ad-hoc plumbing arrangement seemingly designed to flush occupiers’ sewage down Wellington’s wastewater pipes
But wait…there’s more…
Sewage down the drains
Protesters have built two fully functioning toilets at the corner of Hill St and Molesworth St which Wellington City Council has now confirmed are flushing into the city’s wastewater sewer network.
And if the reader manages to get to the end of the article they will see this:
“We also note that the connection to the wastewater system means the sewage is not entering the harbour
Of course, one important fact that Stuff deliberately chose not to mention is why the protesters had to do this in the first place. They had a perfectly sanitary set up with Portaloos regularly serviced during the day until the Police prevented the Portaloo sucker truckers from accessing the site thereby deliberately creating a Health Hazard.
The protesters then had to act to prevent their people from becoming sick so used their considerable skills and talents to hook up to the existing Wellington sewage system.
