Being a BFD subscriber now has an added perk because as we sought to increase website speed we had a few choices to make. One of which was to decide who sees cached pages and who doesn’t.
Our caching system allows for logged in users (ie paid members) to bypass the cache and go straight through to the site unimpeded by the software. That is why there is a delay for non-members in seeing the posts.
Given that 94% of the site’s revenue comes from paid members and only 6% of our revenue comes from advertising we wanted to reward our valued paying customers with direct access to the site.
To those of you who are already subscribers thank you very much for your financial support. It is enabling us to work on a complete website re-design which we will be launching in a month or so when it is complete.
It will make the site even faster and also a lot easier to use. The look will be simpler and cleaner. Only those who are not subscribers will have to deal with the messy look of ads all over the place.
