Freedom to Donate to Whatever Cause You Choose

GoFundMe has pulled the rug out from under Israel Folau’s fundraising page, taking away the over $700,000 Australian dollars that had been donated to his legal defence.

I believe that we all should have the freedom to donate to whatever cause we choose, and so does Martyn Iles who is the Managing Director of the Australian Christian Lobby. He contacted Israel Folau this week to let him know that his organisation will be donating $100,000 to Folau’s legal defence because it believes that his battle will set an important legal precedent.

The Australian Christian Lobby has also hosted his online appeal for funds on their website.  Yesterday when I last checked the website, $852,862.14 had already been raised.

All money donated will be deposited into a trust account to pay for Israel Folau’s legal case.

This fundraiser is no longer about just about Israel Folau. It is a legal battle for the religious freedom of Australians, particularly Christians.
