Hipkins’ bedfellows are bordering on the bizarre. If only we could have a leaders debate featuring Hipkins, Swarbrick, Waititi and Wong. Hipkins would find himself spending 90 minutes between three rocks and a hard place. The differences between Labour and the rest would be of such magnitude that split voting on the right, now vital to determining the outcome of the election, would become completely unnecessary.
The policy rubbish coming from the Greens, Māori Party and Opportunity Party can only mean they are not taking ‘thinking’ voters seriously – it’s more like they are taking us for fools. On election night they might just find out who the fools really are – themselves. They are certainly giving the impression they have absolutely no clue about the economy.
If we take a look at the cost of promises by each party to October 12th, the Taxpayers Union Bribe-O-Meter gives the following statistics:

You can see the night and day difference between the left and right. The left’s combined costings are burdening households with nearly a quarter of a million annually and that is before the unknown amounts from the Māori Party. The irony is those who can least afford to pay these punitive sums will vote for these parties, tricked into believing everything is free. Nothing is free. This is the equivalent of the blind leading the blind. And these figures are five weeks old. Goodness knows what the numbers are like now.
The number of Kiwis paying tax is 4,750,300 million. The majority of those are in the top three tax brackets, 30 per cent, 33 per cent and 39 per cent in the top bracket. This shows indisputably who pays the bulk of the tax in this country and gives a lie to the propaganda the left continue to peddle on this matter. The Bribe-O-Meter figures are an absolute nightmare for Hipkins. He will be continually hounded by the Greens, Opportunity and Māori, not to mention Willie Jackson and his mates in the Labour caucus, to spend, spend, spend. Willie said it out loud on Q+A “We need to spend more.” Hipkins will be permanently in the eye of a storm.
If he has the fortitude to say ‘no’ (which I doubt), then expect a degree of anarchy to follow. The cabinet will be in chaos, as will the country. It’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that Hipkins will have to call an early election. The little fellow will be having his ears boxed from all sides. I very much doubt he has the stamina or the strength to see it through. His three so-called coalition partners have more in common with each other than they do with him. Gangs are currently in the news, in a bad way for Hipkins and the left. Wait till these three gang up on him and Labour.
That scenario is a truly scary thought for those of us on the right. It must be prevented at all costs. I think the split vote will give a much higher result for NZ First than the polls are showing and probably ACT will also go higher. This is what will avoid the unmitigated disaster of a left-wing catastrophe. The polls, with the exception of a couple, are highly misleading. The same scenario is playing out right now in America in the mid-terms. The polls are predicting disaster for Trump and the Republicans and have them losing both the House and the Senate while early voting has the GOP well ahead.
Hipkins is on a hiding to nothing, even if he wins. He will not be able to control those in the other parties who will coerce, demand and threaten. He will be manipulated to high heaven. We could witness possibly the shortest premiership in our history, certainly in our lifetime. God help us if it should come to pass. Split your vote.
