The Green Party announced a policy to cut power costs and climate emissions yesterday. Despite stating Earth is “heating at a frightening speed”, co-leader James Shaw says the policy will help with warm homes, jobs and cheaper power for New Zealanders.

“Most people want action on the climate crisis and action on the cost of living,” Shaw said. […]

“Under our plan, people will be able to access grants of up to $6000 to cover the cost of clean energy upgrades, like putting solar power on their roof or installing a heat pump. Plus, interest-free loans of up to $30,000 to cover the cost of additional zero carbon home upgrades,” [co-leader Marama Davidson] said.
