my letter to Chris Hipkins is below:
Prime Minister
It was alarming to learn that you have been infected with the novel b-coronavirus, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
We trust you are feeling much better now.
When this novel b-coronavirus emerged in Wuhan and then spread globally, we were urged to “follow the science” to help prevent its spread.
We did. We learned that the respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus is called coronavirus disease 2019, which is how we arrived at Covid-19.
And how you came to be the Minister for Covid-19 Response.
In the process of “following the science” we remembered what a vaccine is:
Prime Minister, for some time in 2021, several people in authority, yourself included, described the Covid-19 pandemic as “a pandemic of the unvaccinated.”
That was September 15, 2021 (Hansard, p11/15)
Yet, here we are, two years later, and the Minister for Covid-19 Response has tested positive for Covid-19.
How can this be Prime Minister?
Did you NOT get vaccinated, and thus had no immunity to the SARS-CoV-2 virus?
Or is this an admission that the Covid-19 vaccine deployed in New Zealand does not confer immunity from the pandemic?
If it is the latter, what are we going to do?
