The High Priest of the Australian Multicult, South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas, has finally said the quiet part out loud: mass migration is all about the Great Replacement.
Of course, he didn’t dare say so out loud, but plenty of Australians have paid careful attention to what he did say and drew the inevitable conclusion he left unspoken. Making the boilerplate elite argument for turbocharged mass immigration, Malinauskas went well beyond his previous self-righteous blatherskite about importing low-IQ Third Worlders to wipe elderly bums, to argue that migrants are more valuable than native-born Australians.
That is the inescapable conclusion of his claim that skilled migrants deliver the national economy a net benefit of $198,000 or $415,000 if single. Australian-born residents, he claimed, have a lifetime net cost to public budgets of $85,000.
Never mind that Malinauskas’s figures are rubbery, at best. Especially given that ‘skilled’ migrants are a vanishingly small proportion of the millions of foreigners flooding into the country. Less than one-in-10 enters the country under the ‘skilled’ intake; of those, more than half are in fact family members. So, roughly five per cent of mass immigrants are even benefitting the country, according to even Malinauskas’s own figures.
It gets worse, though. Much worse.
The implications of his claim are all-too obvious: firstly, that migrants are worth more to Malinauskas than Australians. Secondly, that we must continue to import more migrants, without end. Because, note that Malinauskas claims that Australian-born residents are a net drain on the economy. So, the swelling families of ‘skilled’ migrants will all be net drains. Suddenly, the ‘net benefit’ of one Indian migrant Uber driver will drive the family balance into the negative.
So, the children of migrants will end up being a drain on the public purse, according to Malinauskas.
This leaves only one solution – again on his own argument – import more migrants. Then import more to offset the negative effect of their families.
If we want to see a Malthusian catastrophe in operation, Malinauskas just laid out the ground plan.
Not one political, business or academic elite called out this demographic lunacy for what it is. Instead, they’re losing their heads at the only political party to offer an alternative vision.
One Nation has unveiled its plan to slash immigration by 750,000 places over three years, with major cuts targeting international students and the families of skilled migrants.
Student visas would be capped at about a third of the current intake, dipping to just over 100,000 places a year, with a new visa category created, similar to US President Donald Trump’s so-called “genius visas”, for “high-value” students.
Visas for families of both international students and skilled migrants would be cut to zero, and people who overstayed their visa would be banned from Australia for life.
The policy goes further than the party initially indicated, with migration levels going backwards for the first three years in what the party is calling “net-negative migration” to give Australians “breathing space”.
Naturally, every single elite mouthpiece has erupted in horror. Not just the Albanese government, addicted to importing millions of new Labor voters, but even the supposedly ‘conservative’ Liberals.
And they wonder why no one wants to vote for them, any more.
