As a non-Maori, it astounds me how the everyday Maori, the Maori we all know, the ones who go out each day to bring home the wages and be part of a modern-day society are constantly told by these lying, manipulative Maori committees and Maori administrative groups just how dumb and stupid their fellow Maori travellers truly are.
I sometimes wonder just how much longer the average Maori will take this constant criticism of their inability to be worthwhile New Zealand citizens.
The media’s misogyny hypocrisy is showing again.
The selective condemnation is getting worse, as is the antisemitism that accompanies it. And it will get even worse if it is rewarded by clicks, money, and acceptance.
I sure hope the thing is a hoax. Because any of the other explanations reveal what kind of country we have become: censored, submissive, and self-centered. And these poor bridesmaids are left to themselves.
We don’t get to choose all of the shadows that enter our lives. We do get to choose what we do with them. We can spend the rest of our lives staring at the darkness, or we can use it to give the picture depth.
