How Sinwar Banked on American Weakness

Sinwar was a brutal monster who had no intention of releasing any hostages.

Before Israel fired a single shot in retaliation for the enormities of October 7, the anti-Semitic left were screeching ‘ceasefire’. Which is as much to say ‘Let Hamas get away with it’.

Even leaving aside the grotesqueries of demanding that a sovereign nation simply ignore the horrors of the worst terror attack in its history, just what do the Israel-hating cretins imagine the Jewish state should do? Apparently, simply cave to the every demand of the sort of people who butcher pregnant women and babies and mass-rape women attending a peace festival.

I won’t bother asking if they even comprehend the monstrous reality of their demands, because the sort of people who hail a monster like Yahya Sinwar as a hero clearly are incapable of pulling their inflated heads out of their arses. But what, exactly, did they imagine would happen if Israel was so pathetic as to cave to Hamas’ demands?

Hamas are gangsters with a penchant for brutality that would make a Mafia enforcer blink. As for any delusion that Hamas would even honour any agreement…

Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas commander who masterminded the October 7 massacre, reportedly told Hamas officials based outside of Gaza to reject any deals to return the hostages in-part because the Biden-Harris administration was beginning to turn on Israel.

The information was featured in a report from the Wall Street Journal about the effort that went in to locating and killing Sinwar after he spent a year on the run following the attacks.

‘Following’? He scurried like a rat down a drainpipe the day before the massacre. Because he knew Israel would be coming for him. So, he spent a year hiding behind women and children, until a tank shell sent him to meet his 72 goats.

Before that, in the years and months leading up to the attack, Sinwar had played Israel for fools. Hamas’ leadership pretended to be nearing agreement for a lasting peace – even as they were drawing plans for the worst massacre of Jews since WWII. Israel, honourably committed to peace, fell for it.

Never, as they say, again.

Unfortunately, Israel’s so-called allies are proving every bit as gullible as Chamberlain and Daladier in 1939.

He told Hamas’ political leadership to refuse making any concessions and to prolong negotiations for as long as possible because “high civilian casualties would create worldwide pressure on Israel,” the report said.

Around March, Sinwar urged them to “refuse a hostage deal,” the report said.

He said that Hamas, an Iranian-backed terrorist organization, had the upper hand – in part because of “mounting US pressure to alleviate the suffering in Gaza.”

The venal Biden adminstration, desperate for re-election in the face of a tidal wave of left-wing anti-Semitism, were only too eager to play along with the Hamas butchers.

The Biden-Harris administration started applying pressure on Israel to pull back its military efforts against Hamas shortly after Israel began responding because it was hurting the administration’s support with the far-left wing of the Democrat Party with an election right around the corner.

Israel has learned from similar past mistakes.

Sinwar, jailed in Israel for terrorist activities, was freed as part of a prisoner swap to release kidnapped Israel soldier Gilad Shalit in 2011. On release, Sinwar immediately called for more kidnappings. Even a low-IQ thug can figure out when a blackmail works, after all.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu authorized killing Sinwar in 2021 after the terrorist group fired rockets into Israel but the effort failed and Netanyahu’s government later collapsed.

That summer, Israel’s new prime minister, Naftali Bennett proposed killing Sinwar but there was a “split” among the officials who made the call.

After Sinwar urged Arab Israelis to murder Jews in April 2022, Bennett authorized an operation to kill him but Bennett’s government later collapsed and the operation did not move forward.

While Netanyahu and Bennett, both right-wing, authorized taking out Sinwar, the report did not make any mention of Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, who is left of center and took power after Bennett.

Well, that’s the left for you: a threat, no matter which country you are.
