In the cult classic comedy, Idiocracy (2006), hero Joe “Not Sure” Bauers (Luke Wilson) escapes from prison, simply by telling a low-IQ guard that he’s actually scheduled for release. Yer in the wrong line, dumbass! snarls the guard and throws him out the prison gate.
That guard would probably win employee of the month in the UK prison system.
Britain’s Justice Secretary David Lammy is under pressure to explain why he was covering up another inexplicable early release of a second migrant convicted of sexual offences from prison.
In the first case, Ethiopian illegal immigrant, oops, ‘asylum seeker’, Hadush Kebatu, a remorseless sex predator, was accidentally released from prison. This despite sentencing reports deeming that he was too dangerous to be allowed around women in public. Amazingly, prison CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts show that Kebatu, far from doing a runner, wandered aimlessly around the prison complex and a nearby park for hours. A delivery driver at the prison said Kebatu was obviously confused that he had been released and kept asking officers where he was supposed to be.
It’s unknown if the officers responded that he was in the wrong line, dumbass.
Now, once might be an accident – but, twice?
Mr Lammy was asked five times whether there were more mistaken releases in the House of Commons on Wednesday to which he repeatedly declined to answer. It later emerged he had been told the night before of the error.
Shortly after the parliament session wrapped up, Scotland Yard released details that an Algerian man Brahim Kaddour-Cherif had been freed from jail prematurely.
The first accidental release was so embarrassing to the Starmer government that they paid Kebatu half a grand to sod off back to Ethiopia. No word on whether the latest rapey illegal immigrant escapee will make similar bank.
Kaddour-Cherif, 24, was serving time for trespass with intent to steal but has previously committed a sexual offence of indecent exposure. Kaddour-Cherif has been in Britain illegally, having overstayed his visitor visa and was due to be deported. He had arrived in the UK on a visitor visa in 2019, and in February 2020 was logged as overstaying […]
Kaddour-Cherif was released from Wandsworth prison in south west London on October 29 but the Metropolitan Police were only notified on November 4.
In other words, they acted with their usual alacrity when it comes to minorities committing serious crimes. At least Kaddour-Cherif didn’t go on a stabbing rampage on a train while the cops were back at the watch house still finishing their tea.
To make it even more astonishing, the rozzers have no idea where he even is.
Met Police Commander Paul Trevers, who is overseeing the investigation, said: “It is just over 24 hours since we were informed of Cherif’s release. We launched an immediate manhunt and urgent inquiries have been ongoing since.”
“Cherif has had a six-day head start but we are working urgently to close the gap and establish his whereabouts.
“We will continue to use all the means at our disposal but we are also appealing for the public’s help to find him. We have seen in the very recent past how important alert members of the public reporting sightings can be.”
You mean, like when members of the public repeatedly reported a man on a knife rampage in Peterborough, yet he remained at large for around 36 hours?
Even Labour’s lefty allies in the Lib-Dems can’t believe this one.
The Liberal Democrat justice spokesman Jess Brown-Fuller said: “Just when you couldn’t think things could get any worse for the Ministry of Justice, somehow they have. It would be laughable if the situation weren’t so dangerous.”
Well, that kind of describes Britain these days in general.
Update:
What do they call it when it happens, not once, not twice, but three times?
Surrey Police, southwest of the capital, said it is hunting for William Smith, 35, who was also accidentally released on Monday (local time) [...]
Surrey Police said Smith was sentenced on Monday to 45 months for multiple fraud offences and was accidentally freed that same day.
The only surprise here is that this bloke isn’t a rapey illegal immigrant.
