If That’s Not ‘Conversion Practices’, What Is?

Mutilating and sterilising children is fine. Telling them they’ll be fine as they are is unacceptable.

As the ‘trans’ madness shows more and more signs of mercifully fading away, only one thing is certain: the groomers will cling on like grim death until the last juvenile genitals are mutilated and the last predatory cross-dresser is chased out of the girls’ change rooms. A problem solved is an existential crisis for an activist, after all. Once the medical industry goes back to what any sensible person has known all along, namely that surgically mutilating and chemically castrating temporarily deranged children is the very opposite of ‘care’, the activists will be faced with the choice of either giving up and getting real jobs (and not to mention out of the little girls’ dressing rooms) or simply doubling down.

One guess which it will be.

Always the last on the uptake, the Tasmanian Greens are doubling down, with their so-called “Conversion Practices Prohibition Bill”. Now, to you and I, it seems pretty obvious that converting a boy to a girl is a particularly hideous conversion practice. At least an adult troubled by their sexuality can exercise informed consent and settle down to a life of whatever-gets-them-off. A child cannot consent, nor, when subjected to the medicalised mutilation oxymoronically dubbed ‘gender-affirming care’ (of which it is neither), reverse the incalculable damage done to their developing bodies.

Lest you be inclined to object that gender conversion doesn’t count as a ‘conversion practice’, don’t take my word for it:

Conversion practices are attempts to change, suppress or eliminate an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

This is directly quoting from a press release by Equality Tasmania: a pro-trans lobby group who are vociferously supporting the Greens’ dangerous bill. If it sounds self-contradictory to you, well, remember that we’re dealing with people who fervently avow that ‘some women have penises’ and ‘men can get pregnant’.

And we’re letting these loons write our laws?

Down here in the Apple Isle, the taxpayer-subsidised apparatus of virtue-signalling is working overtime to ensure that common sense remains an outlawed commodity. The chief cheerleader in this theatre of the absurd is a taxpayer-funded outfit known as Working It Out. In a frantic circular dispatched to jittery parents, their chief executive has taken to sounding the alarm that sinister, clandestine conversion rituals are presently running rampant through the serene valleys of Tasmania.

Never mind that even the Tasmanian Law Reform Institute, an august body hardly noted for its rampant reactionary prejudices, examined the matter and admitted that there is simply no evidence of contemporary conversion practices taking place within the state. When the bogeyman does not exist, an enterprising activist simply invents him, sticks a clerical collar or a stethoscope on him and demands emergency legislation.

As Dr Elizabeth Caballero, a retired general practitioner and president of Women Speak Tasmania, recently observed:

“The WIO message is blatant fearmongering. WIO treats exploratory or non-affirming psychological support for gender distress as equivalent to conversion practice.”

There lies the true sting in the legislative scorpion’s tail. Under the guise of shielding the vulnerable from archaic spiritual torture, the Greens’ draft statute concocts a sweeping net. It defines conversion practices so expansively that any clinician, counsellor or conscientious parent who fails to immediately nod along with an adolescent’s internet-induced delusion risks falling foul of the law. As Dr Caballero pointed out:

“A clinician or parent who does not immediately affirm a cross-sex identity, or who explores underlying issues such as trauma, autism, same-sex attraction or social contagion, risks complaints from any person and investigation by the proposed Conversion Practices Commissioner.”

Consider the monstrous implications of this legislative lunacy. A mother who gently suggests to her distressed, autistic daughter that cutting off healthy breast tissue might not resolve her adolescent agony is rendered a criminal suspect. A psychologist who dares to explore whether a young boy’s Sudden-Onset Gender Euphoria is merely the byproduct of excessive TikTok consumption and peer pressure faces a tribunal.

Worse still, the bill makes personal consent entirely irrelevant. A confused adolescent can walk into a clinic begging for help to come to terms with their God-given biological reality, and a therapist would be legally barred from assisting them to accept the immutable truth of their sex. To do so would be deemed ‘suppressing’ an asserted gender identity. The only permitted path under this draconian regime is an unquestioning conveyor-belt to the mini-Mengeles in drag: puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and the butcher’s knife.

The tragic irony is that this legislation actively harms the very people it purports to protect. By conflating sexual orientation with the ever-shifting sands of ‘gender identity’, the Greens are establishing a legal framework that effectively medicalises awkward, tomboyish girls and effeminate boys out of existence. It is conversion therapy in its most literal, permanent and destructive guise, repackaged as civil rights.

Across the Bass Strait, Victoria’s totalitarian experiment with identical legislation has already produced a devastating chilling effect, cowing decent doctors into silence and leaving damaged youths at the mercy of predatory quacks. Now, Tasmanian parliamentarians are being asked to rubber-stamp the same madness without so much as a rigorous parliamentary inquiry into the devastation it will wreak upon families and medicine.

If our politicians retain a shred of moral courage, they will consign this grotesque Greens bill directly to the incinerator, pull the funding from the activist groups peddling these falsehoods and let parents and proper doctors get back to the vital business of protecting children from the modern cult of bodily mutilation.

I suppose I could be accused of anthropomorphism, but what I like about having a pet is it won’t criticise me or be sarcastic. No matter how grotesque or smelly I am first thing in the morning, my pet accepts me as I am, and I don’t have to put on airs and graces, or clean pants.

Imagine if they were to do the same for the tragic stories contained in V-safe. We know that they will not, however. This is why it is up to us to make sure that these people are remembered and that proper reparation is done for what happened to them.
