Is This Just Silly... Or Sinister?

Government website compares paedophilia to gay rights.

Here’s the most helpful advice since young lads were told to ‘stop it, or you’ll go blind’: the Australian government is advising paedophiles to, y’know, just not think about children while they’re flogging the dolphin. How helpful! I’m sure no one’s ever thought of that before.

While it might not be as outright creepy as the Scandinavian academic who advocated providing kiddy fiddlers with AI-generated porn and juvenile sex dolls, it’s unsurprisingly become the target of a heady dose of criticism. What is decidedly sinister, though, is its insinuation that paedophilia is just another sexual attraction, no different to homosexuality – and that trying to eliminate it is a form of ‘conversion therapy’.

Our taxpayer dollars are hard at work bankrolling Canberra’s latest exercise in therapeutic compassion. Under the aegis of the Albanese government’s nearly 10-million-dollar ‘StopItNow! Australia’ scheme, we are treated to the spectacle of official state-endorsed guidance telling degenerates that lusting after prepubescents is just something they need to accept with a warm hug and a cup of camomile tea.

“Don’t beat yourself up. For many people, it simply does not feel realistic to never have sexual fantasies about children or to end masturbating to the thought of children,” the module says.

“Mindfulness can help people come to terms with their feelings about this. Compassion and self-acceptance can also be very helpful. Having a sexual interest in children can feel lonely and you may feel society doesn’t understand your situation.”

Cry me a river. The poor, misunderstood pervert, weeping into his mindfulness journal because a cruel judgemental society takes a dim view of him grooming the local playground.

The website’s operational guidance reads like an excerpt from a deranged lifestyle blog. Got an urge to violate a toddler? Don’t go to the lock-up: bake a lemon drizzle cake! Do a jigsaw! Take a brisk turn around the rose garden! And should the urge to indulge in solitary vice arise, the state solemnly counsels the pervert to simply concentrate on ‘the physical sensations’ rather than mental images of infants.

If this were merely the usual brand of high-priced, woke-bureaucratic inanity, it would be bad enough. But the truly venomous core of this project lies in how it frames the pathology.

“Some people who have a sexual attraction to children want to change this attraction,” the module says. “There is some debate about how effective this change can be and some might suggest it is akin to the historical use of such practices for altering homosexual interests.”

Read that again. This is not some off-the-cuff blunder by a low-level web designer. This is the deliberate, academic infiltration of Queer Theory into public policy. For decades, the radical vanguard of the gender and queer faculties, the very same theorists who gave us drag queens shaking their wares in front of kindergarteners, have argued that paedophilia is merely another sexual orientation, a benign preference unfairly maligned by the oppressive ‘heteronormative’ order.

Now, their filthy sophistry has made it all the way into Commonwealth-funded literature.

Notice the trap being laid. Across the country, militant activists have successfully pressured pliable state parliaments to pass sweeping bans on ‘conversion therapy’. If you dare suggest to an autistic teenager that maybe cutting off healthy body parts won’t cure their angst, you can be hauled before a tribunal or threatened with prison.

So what happens when the state itself officially codifies the claim that attempting to cure a paedophile is ‘akin to gay conversion therapy’? Does it follow that condemning or attempting to eradicate paedophilia will likewise be branded a violation of a deviant’s ‘human rights’?

We can be entirely forgiven for suspecting that this is merely another opening salvo in the long march by the degenerates of the progressive left to normalise, soften and ultimately legalise paedophilia. They began by insisting they just wanted tolerance. Then it became celebration. Now we are told to show ‘compassion and self-acceptance’ to people who harbour sexual designs on eight-year-olds.

Opposition child protection spokesman Matt O’Sullivan rightly condemned the circus, noting that attempting to blur the line between consenting adult relations and the sexual abuse of minors is an outrage. Yet Attorney-General Michelle Rowland’s office continues to defend it, hiding behind the skirts of royal commission recommendations and babbling about ‘complex clinical spaces’.

Rubbish. The moral calculus is not complex. The safety of innocent children comes first, second and last. Society does not owe a paedophile ‘mindfulness’ and gentle affirmation: it owes him a heavy prison door with a sturdy bolt.

The riots in France have shown up the Leftist claim that enough public spending and 'integration' will produce a happy, peaceful society as a dangerous fiction. But is anyone paying attention, asks Matt Roberts.

At a time when Health NZ are reporting severe staffing shortages, and are looking to bring in staff from overseas, I have to be blunt: based on my experience, I would not advise any health professional to work in New Zealand until the regulators get back to their core purposes.
