The BFD

Phil Green

In the dizzying world of New Zild politics, there’s enough to be going on to give us political tragics a nosebleed.

Leftist commentator Chris Trotter has written an article for Insight which ascribes him to be in the NZ First camp, as well as saying the same on The Platform a few weeks back. This is huge news, as Trotter has himself described how in past years he was jokingly referred to as, “Trotsky-Trotter”, the leftist guy to the left of the Labour Party. He continues to grumble about wealth taxes but we’ll choose the hill we wish to die on.

On Saturday, Guy Hatchard, the go-to guy for common sense on anything pharmaceutical, himself came out to proclaim he believes a vote for Winston is a vote against the uni-party, “business as usual”, crowd who haven’t addressed the issues of Covid and its collateral devastation. He will vote for Winston.

This is huge for Winston, for NZ First, and for me, and, no doubt, many other BFD readers. Intellectuals are being bold and stating their political positions. I really like Shane Jones too, and the acquisition of Casey Costello, both of whom share the intelligence to take the fight to the separatist activists destroying our country.

There have been grumbles about Winston from Hawkesby and Hosking on NewstalkZB, but they didn’t get it right about Covid or vaccinations either so I look past their comments. You have to wonder how two bright people can overlook the damages inflicted on individuals and society, except they don’t independently research too much.

Their main gripe is that Winston will split the vote of conservative voters and lessen the impact of ACT in the new line up with National post election. I get this, and it worries me too.

A part of me wants David Seymour to act like a demon possessed and do everything he’s promised like slashing the bureaucracy in Wellington, dealing to the woke brigade and basically doing everything Winston is saying he’ll do.

But we have a problem, Houston. I do believe David Seymour has the gumption to take this razor to Wellington and to the racial apartheid that’s enveloped Wellington. He is a man with a mission, where in my soulful hours, I concede Winston wants to be liked. Seymour will be the man with the party vote and the steelies to put pressure on Luxton to eviscerate.

Seymour is not a man who cares if anyone likes him, and Winston, we can only presume at this point, won’t.

Winston’s a good guy, good company and wants a decent society. Winston won’t be the cause of thousands of redundancies in Wellington and around the country, even though they’re needed.

David Seymour is the Ruth Richardson of the 2020s and is probably needed. I don’t have the answer, but it’s come down to this proposition. Which politician, Seymour or Winston, will best deliver the New Zealand society that you have in mind for 2024 and beyond?
