It’s Not a Hate Crime If the Victim Is a White Christian

It’s remarkable how often the mainstream media are struck with selective colour-blindness. In an even more remarkable twist, such selective bindness only ever goes one-way.

When a white person commits a crime against anyone of dusky hue, it’s immediately and unquestionably dubbed a “hate crime” and “racist attack”. Hell, the media will make up bizarre new racial categories (“white Hispanic”) if they have to, to bleach the identity of the alleged culprit.

But when “people of colour” commit crimes against white people (a statistically far more likely event), the media shuffle their feet and reach for the racial blindfold.

A suspect is in custody following last weekend’s fatal shooting that claimed the life of the husband of a former Miss America contestant, according to police in Montgomery, Alabama.

In a news release, the Montgomery Police Department said Thomas Hand Jr., 37, was shot and killed on January 22 on a street in Montgomery.

Police provided no details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Gosh, how convenient. All we can glean about the crime is a Facebook post from Hand’s wife, former Miss Mississippi, Christine Kozlowski Hand.

Kozlowski wrote on Facebook, “Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers during this time of the passing of my husband Tommy Hand.” “I feel the love and support from everyone and just wanted to let everyone know that indeed Tommy was shot and killed last night on Texas Street in Montgomery.” she wrote.

Describing the crime as “a complete random act of violence.”

Other than that, all we know is:

Thomas Hand’s friend Luke Lemus told media, “He was independently evangelizing door-to-door and he had recently moved to Montgomery…to start his new life with his wife and kids.”

Not much, but on far less facts have the media built inviolable racial narratives — when it suits them.

Still, we know about the victim: a white, Southern, evangelical Christian with a young, traditional family. Pretty much everything the media absolutely despises. It’s hard not to imagine the media all-but high-fiving when they learned he was murdered.

Murdered. Not “claimed” by a “fatal shooting”. Notice how CNN’s reporting de-personalises and abstracts the murder.

But murdered by whom?

According to a report in NYPost, 17-year-old Jerimiah Walker has been charged with capital murder in the presence of a child under the age of 14. The crime occurred outside Walker’s home. He has been detained without bond at the Montgomery County jail. The police have, however, still not revealed the possible motive behind the crime.

And that’s it.

The media, who never hesitate to append “who is white” when reporting on the doings of white (or even white-ish, if you squeeze the ethnic lemon hard enough) people, are suddenly all-too coy.

Ask yourself, if the racial roles of arrested murderer and victim were reversed, do you think for a minute that the media wouldn’t be shouting about this crime from the rooftops, for months? But then, Barack Obama isn’t about to pontificate that, if he had a son, he would look like Jerimiah, is he?
