The United States sacrificed a quarter of a million of its young men, not to mention billions of its taxpayers’ dollars, to save Europe from itself in WWII. It sacrificed billions more to keep saving Europe from itself through the Cold War. Not to mention billions more rebuilding the very country that plunged the world into the bloodiest war in history.
In the past decade, tens of billions more US taxpayer dollars have been poured into a Europe that is, yet again, tearing itself apart.
Americans must surely be wondering if it was all worth it. Not to mention, at which point they should just cut Europe loose and leave it to destroy itself, as it seems so hell-bent on doing.
[Keir Starmer] again vowed his country wouldn’t be dragged into a war that wasn’t its.
Isn’t its? Really? So, the decades of Iranian-sponsored terror in Europe and the UK – just last July, the UK Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee said that Iran poses a “wide-ranging, persistent and unpredictable threat” to Britons, including “dissidents, journalists, regime opponents, Israelis, Jews, and sectors including government, travel and universities” – not to mention the energy crisis that is entirely on Iran’s head: none of that is Britain’s problem? Again, in October last year, the Director General of MI5 Sir Ken McCallum reported that security agencies have tracked “more than 20 potentially lethal Iran-backed plots” in the previous year. One of many similar reports he has issued in recent years.
How is the war to overthrow the fanatical Islamic regime responsible for all that not Britain’s?
What he really means is that the UK is now too weak, cowardly and venal to stand by the nation that has sacrificed so much blood and treasure to save it over the past century.
Just like the weak, cowardly, venal Europeans.
As the war drags into a second month, it’s seeing leaders once firmly willing to stand by Trump suddenly emboldened enough to push back.
It emerged this week that Italy – where Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is a close Trump ally – denied US military aircraft permission to land at an air base in Sicily.
France blocked Israeli military planes from flying through its airspace, while Spain has been one of the most vocal European opponents of the war since day one.
The US should just walk away from NATO, which shielded Europe from communism – like fascism (thanks, Italy and Spain!) and Nazism (looking at you, Germany!) – a European invention, inculcated by two Germans residing in London, and leave Europe to squeal impotently.
US withdrawal from NATO would be devastating for the security alliance.
Good. It’s all Europe deserves. Having saved Europe from the Nazism it invented, the US then spent the next half-century shielding Europe from the communism it also invented. What did Europe do? It certainly never kept up its side of the deal: almost no European nation honoured its treaty obligation on defence spending. Instead, Europe hid behind the American aegis and wasted the money it should have spent on its defence on building vast, cradle-to-grave welfare states. Welfare states that are directly responsible for Europe’s precipitous descent into Third World anarchy, as the detritus of Africa and the Middle-East flood in, grabbing all the welfare they can. Not to mention raping all the women and children they can get away with, which, if Europe’s suicidally ‘empathic’ courts and politicians and chattering elites had their way, would be all of them.
Instead, Starmer and his European colleagues are forging ahead with their own efforts to ease the pain coming from the war.
And this consists of?
He announced the UK will convene a meeting of 35 countries later this week to explore “all viable diplomatic and political measures” to restore access in the Strait of Hormuz.
So, begging and crawling to a suicidal death cult, pleading for them not to rain drones and missiles on their ships, even though none of them have raised a finger against Iran. Could Europe debase itself any further?
It’s emblematic of a globe no longer able to rely on a US president to play the role of leader of the free world.
No, it’s emblematic of European malfeasance and a US sick to death of being played for mugs by cowardly socialists.
