So what went wrong? I guess it all started back in the 1980s, with the Lange Government, which introduced the settlements, creating a culture of grievance. Helped along in 1995 by Doug Graham of National whose abysmal negotiating skill and lacking any foresight to this nonsense set the agenda for the Maori Gravy Train. Frankly, it has been all downhill from there. The entitled class stuck their hands out, and have not retracted them since.
