Knock Knock Who’s There? Oranga Tamariki

Thanks to Centrist News Services putting in an OIA to the Children’s Minister we now know Oranga Tamariki can knock on your door and remove your child if their “emotional well-being” will suffer due to your opposition to them having puberty blockers.

All this reminds me of Polish Jews waiting for a knock on the door to be sent to the ghettos. Also, there are shades of David Seymour’s policy of hunting down the unvaccinated during Covid. ACT leader Seymour has redeemed himself slightly by admitting to Tamaki that it was wrong to refuse him a Charter School. How things have changed.

Did Oranga Tamariki not get the memo? The UK has banned puberty blockers after a 24-year-old woman who was harmed by puberty blockers won her case against Tavistock Clinic, forcing it to close. We have our own Tavistock Clinic here in Christchurch, which provoked a demonstration recently. This Te Tahi Clinic is even more of a hotbed of puberty blockers than Tavistock was.

Oranga Tamariki is making it up as it goes along, telling big porkies about the UN and puberty blockers. They have even pointed to the Declaration of Children’s Rights.

New Zealand is not known for its free speech, except for very entertaining retorts at the Beehive from Winston Peters, Leader of NZ First. It’s so bad now that even the Australians are beginning to notice.

An example of this was the “Paddy Gower Has Issues” program, June 2023, where he was trying to give a fair analysis of puberty blockers but couldn’t find a medical professional who would speak against puberty blockers on their home ground for fear of being accused of being “transphobic”. So Paddy had to skip over the ditch to paediatrician Dylan Wilson, who was concerned about the lack of discussion on puberty blockers in the Land of the Long White Cloud, which seems to be covered in mist at the moment.

What was of concern and brought out in Paddy’s program was the rise in the number of children on puberty blockers between 2020 and 2022, going from 177 to 771 in two years!

Is this assembly line stuff you ask?

Hīkoi No More Than a Hiccup

The politicians, particularly those on the right, with the exception of ACT, need to realise that those who put them in power did so in the belief the necessary courage was there to fix this festering sore. We are now left in doubt and that is not good enough.

National could, under urgency, progress Seymour’s bill to second reading and vote it down, but this would put immense strain on the coalition, which is supposed to operate based on good faith and Cabinet consensus. An early election could be provoked, leading to National bleeding votes to ACT.
