Dear Editor

When you make an appointment, or even just turn up for the vaccine they look you up on the National Register. So, before you are jabbed, they check all your details to ensure that they are correct.

When you return for jab number two they go through all that again.

Why then, in Heaven’s name do you have to sign in or scan? They know exactly who you are and where you are already.

My partner and I both received our first jab without signing in. For myself, the only reason I submitted to being vaccinated was to ensure I am able to travel in the future. (My children and grandchildren are all overseas.)

To be castigated for not signing in by some female probably less than half my age in public was extremely embarrassing for my partner and also concerning for others waiting. They made that clear while we waited. Personally, the outburst did not concern me as I thought the woman was making a fool of herself stating in no uncertain terms that she was the ‘site manager’ and I would obey her instructions.

After I had received my jab I decided to ask for her name, which she wrote on a slip of paper. Just a first name and in big letters ‘COVID-19 SITE MANAGER’. When I said I wanted her full name she reluctantly added a surname.

At both jabs there seemed to be an excess of security, all looking bored to death, but I must add the actual ‘jabbers’ (nurses) were excellent and caring. My overall feeling was that there is an enormous waste of money occurring. Nevertheless, having to sign in or scan in does seem a bit OTT.

My partner signed me in so I didn’t actually sign myself in or scan. I don’t scan and have been known to invent a name if coerced into signing, which is rare.

Signed

TWICE-JABBED
