Dear Editor
It was correct of Maureen Pugh to ask James Shaw, on behalf of a Local Government Council, and more especially her constituents, for evidence of Anthropogenic Global Warming as the cause of the recent Cyclone Gabrielle. As an opposition MP she is duty-bound to ask the Government or its support parties for factual evidence that supports in this case Shaw’s dictates from the Parliamentary Chamber.
As the saying goes, Pugh must have been “over the target” with her questioning. Clearly, Shaw has not been able to or cannot provide the necessary evidence. Shaw had his back covered by the Labour Government’s taxpayer-funded, media propaganda lap dogs who ran cover for him and cowardly attacked Pugh’s persona – not her question. Otherwise, Shaw would have freely produced the evidence for all to see. Where is it? Let us see it; Silence!
To make matters worse Maureen Pugh’s own colleagues Luxon, Willis and Bishop pounced on her as presumably fair game as they supported Shaw and media propaganda agents in an attempt to forcibly reverse Pugh’s valid questioning of Shaw. Their blatant response was a clear attempt at usurping Pugh’s “Freedom of Speech” rights. Maureen Pugh was not constricted by National Party Policy when questioning Shaw. It was her duty to question him. Luxon’s suggestion that he has books on the subject for Pugh to read is laughable. I’d like to see them. Are they Mickey Mouse comics?
Neither Shaw, Luxon, Willis, Bishop or the media have shown any sense of general knowledge or common sense in their disgraceful and despicable attack on Pugh.
I believe there is a very simple explanation for Cyclone Gabrielle and it is based on a history of previous events. A little over a year ago the Tonga Volcano erupted. This was the biggest volcano in 140 years and, coupled with the El Nino year, is the likely cause of Cyclone Gabrielle .
If we look at history we see that on April 15th, 1815, 208 years ago, the massive Indonesian volcano Mt Tambora exploded, reducing its height from 14,000 feet to around 8000 feet. This eruption had a profound effect on the world’s weather for at least two years. Around 90,000 died directly from the effects of the volcano fallout in Indonesia and later from famine.
As the ash and other fall-out from the volcano spread around the entire world the effects were dire. In the following summer, it was recorded that the temperature in Spain never rose above 15°C .
Ireland suffered a huge famine after a drought that became a flood as a result of Mt Tambora’s effects, when rain prevented crops from being harvested. Stock had to be killed both for food and because they could not be fed. Much of Europe suffered flooding and famine. It was called “The summer of no summer”.
When the rains came to Europe as a consequence of the Mt Tambora eruption the battlefield at Waterloo was so sodden it has been suggested that Bonaparte could not deploy his cavalry because they became bogged down in the soft earth, but the British heavy horses (Clydesdales) with their big feet could traverse the battlefield and caused a ‘Rout’ of the French forces and the end of Bonaparte. Lord Wellington emerged the victor; in part because of the Mt Tambora eruption
Following the Mt Tambora eruption during the hottest months of the year in the United States, many states had snow to the depth of at least 12 inches in the months of June, July and August.
It is interesting to note that as I write this today there is a weather warning for a severe snowstorm from coast to coast in the US. This is late in the winter season. Could it possibly be a result of the Tonga eruption of a year ago? What of the so-called rivers of rain and the very early heavy snows that hit British Columbia and the northwest US earlier this winter?
And what about the massive floods in Australia, predicted by Australian meteorologists after the Tonga eruption?
Perhaps the answer lies in Luxon’s Mickey Mouse comics.
