First, it was the elite Maori and now it is the pro-trans groups who are trying to tell most law-abiding commonsense Kiwis that ‘it’s our way or the highway’. Once we allow minority groups to force their views on the majority then there is only one word to describe where this country finds itself: anarchy. When violent mobs are allowed to disrupt events they don’t like, that is anarchy. When Police stand by until the very last minute to defend a woman being attacked by a deranged mob, that is anarchy.
This country actually descended into anarchy when protesters went to Parliament to seek to have a discussion with any politician who was prepared to listen to their concerns over losing their businesses or their jobs. Sadly, at the behest of the then Speaker of the House Trevor Mallard, not one did. Because this didn’t happen, a ‘rent a crowd’ arrived and we all witnessed the resultant violent scenes.
The Police didn’t cover themselves in glory then and neither did they last Saturday. It is hard not to think that the Police are becoming more and more politicised. Crime statistics, the real ones, are all exploding in the wrong direction. The Police seem powerless to do anything about it. Every day the media are full of stories of crimes: ram raids, stabbings, murders, drive-by shootings and gang violence. I can’t see the newly appointed amateur Minister of Police being able to sort these problems out.
The heavily politicised news media are also culpable. They deliberately whipped up a public frenzy over Posie Parker’s pending arrival. As it turned out, the Trans communities were especially whipped up. There were constant lead items about a woman few of us knew much about. The stories were framed in such a way that the risk of public disorder was great. In the event, it was straight-out violence that we witnessed. I am told that Jack Tame, after hearing of the eggs and tomato sauce incident, quipped: “Well that’s lunch taken care of then.” Words fail me.
The majority of the Labour and Green MPs would have been against the Albert Park event. This means they are against free speech, as was Phil Goff. They can’t have it both ways. Supporting speech that only you agree with is not supporting free speech. What if the boot had been on the other foot on Saturday? What then would have been the reaction of the domestic terrorists? No doubt they would have behaved in the same violent manner. Several MPs from the left of politics who were there are on record as applauding the violence. Shame on them. They have brought shame on our country and on themselves. They don’t deserve to be in Parliament.
It is not enough for National and Act to say they “support free speech”. They need to condemn the actions of those who perpetrated the violence and should be asking the Police why there were no arrests. At least one person who threw tomato sauce has outed herself. Why has she not been arrested? This country is, thanks to this Labour Government’s policies, becoming a third-world nation where children don’t attend school, crime is rampant, people are paid not to work, co-governance is becoming the norm and the minority is given carte blanche to rule the majority.
This cannot be allowed to continue, and October 14 must see a change of government.
