No Shortage of Snitches in Auckland City

It has been reported that no fewer than 3,400 calls have been made to the Auckland City Council’s “dob in your neighbour” hotline regarding the unspeakable crime of using one’s hose. It appears Crime Watch has a competitor. The city is awash with unauthorised liquidity. My current crop of veggies has to experience the indignity of being kept alive by sharing my bathwater. It is already second-hand when I get into it. I guess this is what happens when a right-wing capitalist politician, Rodney Hide, creates a “Super City” only to see his vision being managed by socialist Mayors and Councils ever since.

But of course it gets worse. We have a democratically elected Green Party candidate representing Auckland Central? There is one major flaw with democracy: collective ignorance has the same value as collective wisdom. And that is why we had a landslide move to the left. The wisdom of mature voters has been submerged by the ignorance of youth.

Now that her work is done it is a blessing that Jacinda Ardern has abandoned her team of five million. Not a peep since the election even though a third wave of COVID-19 has appeared. She apparently kept enough of the population alive to vote her in for a second term. Now we are left to die or at least forget to wash our hands and to be kind. Apparently, she is having a conversation with the Green Party where a coalition arrangement will be announced by 2022.

But there is one shining light and that is our mate Patrick Lam, a Cambodian refugee, who not only produces the best pies in New Zealand, but also the best sausage rolls. In contrast, our pretend refugee, Golriz Ghahraman is flat out trying to destroy the career of Chris Liddell by opposing his nomination for a top international post because of his work for President Donald Trump. I wrote some time ago about the merits of both refugees. Nothing has changed as Patrick continues to flourish whilst Golriz continues to sabotage.

Moller and Dixon: Giants of NZ Running

It was a great privilege for my generation to grow up admiring and being inspired by these remarkable people. It is clear that there are many role models for 10-year-old NZers today to be as inspired by as I was at Cooks Gardens in the 1970s.
