Oh, dear, it looks like it’s open season on paedophiles, all around the world.

Reminiscent of internet hero Gary Plauché’s administration of rough justice, an Aboriginal Australian man took matters into his own hands – literally – when he (allegedly!) found kiddy porn on a mate’s phone.
A murderer who bashed and stomped on someone he thought was a paedophile during a drunken confrontation is not a vigilante, a judge says.
Roger James Kilby, 40, stole a mobile phone from Andrew John Anthoney’s house after a drinking session in the small central western NSW town of Peak Hill on March 2, 2023.
Nine days later, after dancing and drinking at the local RSL, he went back to Mr Anthoney’s home to confront the 57-year-old about child abuse material allegedly found on the phone.
Kilby pleaded guilty in February to committing murder after the verbal confrontation escalated into violence.
As the judge noted, the murder was “impulsive and unsophisticated”. He also turned himself into police and is using prison time to better himself.
He was given a non-parole period of 12 years and six months, meaning he will be eligible for release on September 11, 2035.
Which seems like a lighter sentence than handed out to many paedophiles.
The judge found Kilby had shown genuine remorse for his actions and had made positive steps towards rehabilitation while in prison.
This included completing an engineering certificate, being appointed the Aboriginal delegate, leading NAIDOC events within the prison, and having his artwork displayed at an exhibition.
She said his signs of becoming a productive member of society were positive if he could continue getting treatment for his drug and alcohol addiction.
Meanwhile, Madagascar isn’t mucking around when it comes to punishing child-rapists.
A court in Madagascar has sentenced a man to surgical castration for the rape of a child in 2024, a judicial official said, in the first such measure on the Indian Ocean island.
The case arose from the rape and attempted murder of a six-year-old girl in Imerintsiatosika, a municipality 30 km west of the capital Antananarivo, Didier Razafindralambo, the attorney general at the Court of Appeal, said on Thursday.
‘The person prosecuted in this case was sentenced by the Court to life imprisonment with hard labour, accompanied by castration,’ he said in a video statement released to media by the ministry of justice […]
Surgical castration has been carried out on some sex offenders in the Czech Republic and Germany with the consent of the defendant.
Louisiana last year became the first US state to mandate the procedure for some sex crimes against minors.
On the other side of the world, Ecuador is offering a big reward for finding a left-wing politician who disappeared before he could be arrested for child rape.
Ecuador’s government on Sunday offered a $100,000 reward for information on the whereabouts of a lawmaker whom authorities accused of raping a minor.
The case against Santiago Díaz Asque became public when he was expelled from an opposition party earlier this week. Interior Minister Jhon Reimberg in a post on X said the reward is for “true and verifiable” information on Díaz’s location.
Authorities on Wednesday raided three properties linked to the case, but prosecutor’s have declined to provide details of the investigation.
Well might he try to evade capture: president Daniel Noboa announced last week that he is seeking a constitutional amendment to allow chemical castration of all rapists.
