One Nation Can’t Afford to Hand Free Kicks to the Left

Allowing obvious dickheads to slip through candidate vetting isn’t good enough.

As the old saying goes, when you’re copping the most flak, you’re over the target. There’s no clearer indication of One Nation’s success in the South Australian state election than the increasing intensity of attack pieces from the legacy media. Not least, to no one’s surprise, from the taxpayer-funded leftist collective at the ABC.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean that all of the hit pieces are entirely unfounded, which brings up another truism: a conservative party will always be held to a completely different standard by the legacy media than even the most demented leftists.

A One Nation candidate in the South Australian election was accused of domestic abuse, bullying and harassment, while another made racist, antisemitic and homophobic social media posts, raising fresh questions about the party’s vetting processes as it surges in popularity.

Remember: this is just days after a Victorian Liberal candidate parachuted into a safe seat by branch-stacking was forced to resign after it emerged he had provided a character reference for a convicted paedophile. Where was the ABC’s pearl-clutching over ‘vetting processes’, in that case?

Remember, too, that a near-endless stream of Greens MPs and candidates have been exposed as rapists, drug abusers, bestiality advocates, shoplifters and virulent anti-Semites. Where are the ABC’s hit pieces on the Greens’ ‘vetting processes’?

That said, unfortunately, it’s beyond doubt that at least some of the dickheads who’ve slithered under One Nation’s umbrella should never have passed vetting.

One Nation candidate, Tyler Green, has published more than a dozen extremist posts on social media, including comments about “Jewish bankster wars” and promoting Holocaust conspiracy book, The Six Million: Fact or Fiction? […]

“We need to stop fighting Jewish bankster wars!”, he wrote in a post from December 2020, in which he also quotes a passage from a book about the decline of the United States’ global political power.

In another post from August last year, which linked to a Sky News report about Jewish groups raising concerns about a neo-Nazi rally in Melbourne, Mr Green wrote: “These [sic] is why the Zionists pay the AFP to do the costume dress up parties in the first [sic]. It gives the police the necessary excuse to clamp down on all.”

What is he, a ‘pro-Palestinian’ Green?

While it’s beyond doubt that Green is an anti-Semitic piece of shit, how is what he’s said any different to the Greens bellowing the anti-Semitic genocide slogans of Hamas in Parliament? Or ABC darlings like Clammy Fraud and Grace Tame, who’ve been complicit in egregious anti-Semitic conduct, from circulating the notorious ‘Jew List’, to screaming violent incitement against Jews at a Sydney hate-mob?

They all should be dumped immediately, left or right.

But, like the rest of the left, the ABC won’t hold its own side to the same lofty standards it demands of the right.

Still, like all Holocaust deniers, this dickhead is, at best, stupidly confused.

Mr Green’s account also features comments supportive of Jewish Australians, including a post from December after the Bondi massacre, in which he wrote: “What on earth did you think was going to happen? Our Jewish population deserved so much better than this. Unforgivable from @AlboMP”.

And they certainly deserve better than Holocaust denial from people who aspire to elected office, left or right.

At other times, though, the ABC’s fainting fits are bit less convincing.

In a February 2024 post referencing the killing of Ipswich woman Vyleen White by a teenager, Mr Green wrote: “Christian grandma stabbed by African savage.”

Vyleen White was a Christian grandma, though. Her killer is an African savage – yet another violent Sudanese refugee, who stabbed an innocent woman to death in front of her six-year-old granddaughter.

Pollster Kos Samaras previously worked for the Labor Party where he says he screened “well over 100” candidates across state and federal elections.

Mr Samaras said parties should resist weaponising rivals’ old social media accounts, but Mr Green’s posts were inexcusable and should trigger immediate expulsion.

Hmm, did any of those candidates he screened include, say, the Queensland neo-Nazi who stood for Labor in 2014? Or the multiple Labor MPs convicted of child sex offences in just the past decade? Not to mention Labor’s criminal kingpins, like Eddie Obeid, Milton Orkopoulos, or Andrew Theophanous?

This is not to excuse One Nation for clearly failing to do rigorous checks. Sure, the party is burdened with the need to quickly recruit candidates to capitalise on its surge in popularity, but it surely isn’t too much to ask them to come clean on their social media history? If you’re aspiring to public office, you must be held to a higher standard than ordinary citizens. One Nation has to know that they need to be squeaky clean, with the legacy media inquisitors searching for anything they can use against them.

Unfortunately, the legacy media only hold one side to a higher standard – and it’s not theirs.
