Our Childlike Prime Minister

In 1989 Sony, the Japanese electronics company was looking to purchase Columbia Pictures. The head of Sony met with the head of Columbia where the movie mogul described how the studio operates. He said that each year they had a slate of about 20 movies they would make and have shown in cinemas around the world; 5 would be hits, 5 would flop, and the remaining 10 would be so-so and with a bit of luck make a profit. The head of Sony then said, “that sounds a bit risky; why don’t you just make the hits?”

This sort of artless logic has been on full display with Jacinda Ardern announcing changes to immigration work visas; nurses and midwives can now get immediate residency in New Zealand. Sounds all well and good except it is a year too late. Ardern compounded her error by waxing lyrical – in typically embarrassing New Zealand fashion – about what a wonderful place the country is and how marvellous it is to live here.

Anybody who has travelled abroad can tell you that is hardly true; the cost of living, the inadequate incomes, the cost of housing, the inadequate infrastructure, the Maori stuff, and the silly egalitarianism make this barely a first-world nation thanks to various Labour Governments. Even worse for some poor Pommy nurse who arrives here; she’ll have fake Maori language and culture shoved down her throat, told to nod her head and accept this is the world’s most superior race, and then, a few days later, find it is one of them who assaults her whilst on duty. When she rightly complains, she’ll be fired for “racism” in order to deter anybody else from truth-telling.

What this Labour Government doesn’t realise is – the word is already out. I strongly suspect that not only is Australia a far more attractive option for the average nurse or midwife to relocate to, but the ludicrous Maori stuff will deter most from considering our shores as a destination and who can blame them? None of us locals cares a jot for such nonsense so why would some Liverpudlian candy striper want to subject themselves to a load of primitive rubbish?

Like a child Jacinda Ardern thinks you can “just make the hits”, that you can put things down like a toy and it will be there when you want it; in this case 5000 nurses, bags packed, waiting for her to change the immigration rules.

When it, predictably, doesn’t happen – I doubt we will see more than 300 nurses coming here, if that many. You can just imagine Ardern’s lip quivering, tears welling in her eyes; all these meanies not doing what she wants (memories of the girls in the 4th form flashing through her mind). What a victim she is; how bravely she handles it all.

A hilarious example was on TV3 News on Monday night. They reported only 57 nurses had come to New Zealand and some idiot in the Socialist media unit was straight on the phone correcting them: the number is actually 89. What they are too stupid to realise is that’s hardly a plea in mitigation when the country needs thousands of nurses.

When there is a change of government, the right wing will need to constantly remind everybody how bad and how unfit for government the Labour party actually was.

I, for one, will be spending lots of money doing so over the next 20 years. This is yet another baseball bat to hit them with.
