For the last three weeks, thousands came together peacefully at what became known as Camp Freedom or Freedom Village.

The camp, which was originally formed by those who travelled to Wellington from throughout the country in the Convoy, was situated on parliament grounds.

The protestors had resolved to stay there until [at the very least] the jab mandates had been lifted. Protestors also wanted Jacinda or some other prominent member of government or of the opposition to come out of Parliament and engage with them, but neither of these things happened.

On Wednesday, riot police stormed the camp, tore down tents and beat, pepper-sprayed, tear-gassed and rubber bulleted peaceful men women and children.
