With Messiah-like adulation David Attenborough was feted at Glastonbury. Attenborough made a surprise appearance on the Pyramid Stage and the 93-year-old environmentalist thanked the crowd for ditching their plastic water bottles for the event.

It appears to have been a monumental fail as the fields of Glastonbury looked a long way away from ‘green’ after thousands of revellers left the site looking worse for wear.

Rubbish was scattered around the ‘plastic free’ event, including plenty of plastic bottles, along with mountains of other debris the festival goers did not take home with them, including chairs and camping equipment.

Perhaps next year the hypocrites will stay home?
