The Biden-Harris administration’s parole program was reportedly designed to help ease the strain at the border by fast-tracking Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans. As long as they had valid passports, paid for their own transportation into the US, have a sponsor in the United States, and passed the vetting process, they were usually good to go. According to an exclusive by the Washington Times, however, some very dangerous people have been allowed into the country, including dangerous nationals from Cuba’s communist regime.

Dangerous Cubans in the US

“Cuban Americans have been spotting the newcomers out and about and reporting them to one another,” the Times reported, referring to relatives of Cuba’s prime minister, senior political figures, and even a military colonel involved in shooting down humanitarian airplanes.

Emilio Gonzalez, a former Homeland Security Department agency leader, told the outlet that the Cubans who were senior members of the adversarial regime would have been denied entry if they had tried to enter the US under the usual immigration system, but Biden’s parole program allowed them to relocate, even though Cuba is listed by the US as a state sponsor of terrorism and is run by a communist government, Gonzalez pointed out.

One such individual is Luis Raul Gonzalez-Pardo, a retired Cuban air force colonel. In 1996, Brothers to the Rescue was a humanitarian group that flew over the Florida Straits and reported Cuban migrants trying to get into the US by raft or boat to the Coast Guard. On Feb 24, two of those planes were shot down, killing four aid workers. Gonzalez-Pardo was part of that Cuban operation and pursued the third plane that managed to escape. Jose Basulto, the leader of Brothers to the Rescue, was on that plane and managed to survive by hiding the aircraft in the clouds. Allegedly, Raul Castro, brother of then-leader Fidel Castro, gave the order to shoot down the humanitarian planes. According to Periodico Cubano, Gonzalez-Pardo now lives in Jacksonville, Florida – and he was allowed into the US by the parole program.

Mr Gonzalez said besides Gonzalez-Pardo, a Cuban judge, a regional Communist Party secretary, and a retired colonel who ran Cuba’s official military magazine have been identified in the US. “If these people were North Koreans, we’d be livid,” he told the Times. “The fact that we allow this means there’s no accountability, there’s no vetting whatsoever. Whatever they call ‘vetting’ isn’t vetting.”

He continued: “If you’re not paying attention, if all you’re doing is looking at files to make sure people check the box, it’s almost a purposeful mendacity. You’re going through the motions of pretending there’s a vetting process when in fact there’s not.”

Recently, the parole program entered the spotlight when it was determined fraud was being committed and fake sponsors were being used to allow migrants into the US. The program was temporarily halted, but it soon resumed again with reportedly tighter restrictions and vetting methods.

So far this fiscal year, which ends September 30, almost 200,000 Cubans, 280,000 Venezuelans, more than 205,000 Haitians, and 87,000 Nicaraguans have been caught trying to enter the US.

A commenter on the Time’s website wrote: “Shameful! The US giving asylum to communists who acted against freedom! Sickening! Very much a Demo-communist behavior – granting paroles to [sic] that communist criminals can enjoy liberty and freedoms!…liberties that come with privileges that are funded with out [sic] taxes! Sickening! Nuts!”

The parole program, designed to ease the strain at the border, is allowing individuals into the US who would normally be turned away. Being associated with a communist party would automatically disqualify some of these illegal migrants – yet here they are.
