Hoo, boy. And here I was, thinking that the left must surely have run out of things to call “racist”. Golf, milk, applauding, knitting, cycling, abolishing slavery, not being racist, earthquakes, Thomas the Tank Engine… all “racist”.
Also, thanks to Biden VP, Kamala Harris, we now know that trees are also racist.
As Kinky “The Texas Jewboy” Friedman once sang, in They Ain’t Makin’ Jews Like Jesus, Anymore, “is there anyone I missed?”
You betcha!
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said on Monday that the Biden administration would use money from the infrastructure bill to address what he claims were racist highway designs.
Buttigieg made the remarks in response to a question from White House correspondent April Ryan, who asked him how he would “deconstruct the racism that was built into the roadways.”
Now, last I looked, America’s famously spaghettified highways hadn’t exactly been designed to look like Stepinfetchit caricatures when seen from space, or to spell racist epithets. So, what’s got Secretary Butters all worked up?
“You know, I’m still surprised that some people were surprised when I pointed to the fact that if a highway was built for the purpose of dividing a white and a black neighborhood, or if an underpass was constructed such that a bus carrying mostly black and Puerto Rican kids to a beach — or that would have been — in New York was designed too low for it to pass by, that that obviously reflects racism that went into those design choices,” he claimed.
With a straight face, and everything.
Yes, town planners wearing pointy hoods are apparently going out and measuring the height of buses — but only the ones that carry “colored” kids, because apparently that’s a thing, too — and, yee-hawing and a hollerin’ back to the office, triumphant that they’ve kept those danged uppity “negroes” off good, white folks’ beaches.
Power-Bottom Pete is also dog-whistling at one of the race-baiting left’s favourite bugaboos: so-called “redlining”. Never mind that the practise was outlawed nearly 80 years ago, or that the neighbourhoods it targeted have mostly demographically changed beyond an ageing Klansman’s recognition. Once gang-ridden LA neighbourhoods like Westside have been gentrified, while formerly-respectable neighbourhoods like Compton (where the Bushes raised lil Dubya, before relocating to Texas) have become crime-ridden hell-holes.
This would all be a gigantic joke, if there wasn’t such a massive, taxpayer-funded price tag attached.
“The Reconnecting Communities — that billion dollars — is something we want to get to work right away putting to work.”
The Daily Wire
Still, no price is too high to pay to rid America of racist… highways.

Is there anything they’ve missed?
