RFK Jr. unveils CDC vaccine injury unit amid HHS overhaul

“Gold-standard science.”

US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has announced plans to create a specialised sub-agency within the CDC focused on vaccine injuries, long COVID, and Lyme disease.

In a NewsNation interview with Chris Cuomo, Kennedy said the unit will aim to produce “gold-standard science” and improve treatment for affected Americans.

Kennedy, who took over HHS in February, said the move is part of a wider reform of what he called an “incomprehensible” department riddled with bureaucratic silos.

He described the current system as so dysfunctional that when he requested depersonalised patient data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, another HHS agency, he was told to buy it.

Vaccine safety advocates say the announcement marks a historic turning point.

James Lyons-Weiler called it “a long-overdue shift in public health accountability,” adding that institutional denial has blocked progress for decades.

Several researchers, clinicians, and health freedom advocates described the move as validation for those who have long warned about vaccine injuries. Chiropractor Ben Tapper called it “a long-overdue crack in the dam.”

Critics say the US government has ignored safety signals from VAERS, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, and failed to take vaccine-injured patients seriously. Dr Joel Wallskog of React19 noted “COVID-19 vaccine injuries are real. There have been more adverse events in VAERS with the COVID-19 vaccines, than all other vaccines combined.”
