Comic-Con has come a long way from its days as a fairly simple gathering for comic-book nerds. Today, it’s a massive entertainment-industry event for everything from movies and television to gaming.
And wherever Hollywood and entertainment elites go…
A 16-year-old girl and nine others were rescued from sex traffickers during a major sting operation at Comic-Con in San Diego last weekend.
The underage girl and other victims were being forced to work as prostitudes [sic] servicing attendees at the star-studded gathering of fans, authorities said.
Remember, this is the same industry sneering at you as “deplorable” and “weird” for being centre-right and believing in traditional values.
Christopher Davis, acting special agent in charge for HSI San Diego, said […] ‘There is no place for alleged predators to operate in our city.’
That’s right: that’s what Beverley Hills and Burbank are for.
During a three-day operation, undercover agents were able to identify the women and remove them from the people trafficking them.
Posing as sex buyers, the California law enforcement officers made contact with the victims and then attempted to identify their traffickers, California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s office said.
Operatives also posted advertisements soliciting sex to identify buyers.
No traffickers were arrested in the operation, but the agents were able to lure out and arrest 14 johns.
So… despite rescuing 10 sex slaves and arresting 14 nobody customers, they couldn’t find a single trafficker? Not so much as a common-or-garden pimp?
Well, now, isn’t that odd?
“These arrests send a clear message to potential offenders that their criminal behavior will not be tolerated” […] said Bonta in a statement.
…if they get caught.
Then again, the Epstein client list remains a closely guarded secret, too.
It’s almost like certain people are being protected.
But I’m sure that’s just a baseless conspiracy theory.
It was not the first time Comic-Con has been at the center of controversy.
In 2014, an organization of women called Geeks for CONsent gathered nearly 3,000 signatures demanding the event adopt a formal anti-harassment policy after what they described as an atmosphere of sexual harassment at the event.
The group interviewed female attendees who described being frequently groped, unwillingly photographed and even followed while at Comic-Con. They also complained of a pervasive atmosphere of sexual objectification of women.
And meanwhile, He-Man and Batman look like just average, everyday guys.
And, of course, Jonathan Joestar doesn’t project an unrealistic male body stereotype at all.
