Well, you’ve got to hand it to the troons: they’ve finally got feminists hastily back-tracking on their ‘women can do anything a man can do!’ schtick. At least, when it comes to sports. Half a century after the “Battle of the Sexes”, and less than a decade after John McEnroe was crucified for pointing out that Serena Williams would be trounced by even a mediocre male player, feminists are suddenly frantically trying to keep men out of women’s sports: all because a bunch of fourth-rate males are winning all the women’s prizes.
As Jim Goad presciently wrote eight years ago, “expect a lot of crying” when even the most dimwitted feminists finally click to what ‘inclusion’ means when it comes to women’s sports.
Oddly, though, for all their bleating about men in women’s spaces, feminists don’t have much to say about women in men’s spaces. Whether it’s the ‘world’s leading men’s health charity’ being dominated by women, or women forcing their way into ‘men’s sheds’, men are supposed to just shut up and accept the girls barging into their playhouses.

As for ‘diversity’, there’s precious little diversity in professions like teaching, nursing or the biological sciences. But quotas are strictly for male professions – at least, the ones that offer cushy government sinecures and aren’t physically demanding.
Many of which were traditionally male for good reason.
There’s a lot to say about the disturbing footage of a violent mob beating a man and woman in downtown Cincinnati, but one thing that shouldn’t go unsaid is that the outrageous and offensive response from Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge is yet another reminder that we should get women out of men’s spaces – and out of men’s professions.
Policing is a man’s profession. So is soldiering, and commercial fishing, and underwater welding, and so on. That’s not to say women shouldn’t be able to serve in clerical roles in a police force or in the military, but they have no business leading police departments or being deployed into combat areas.
This is, or should be, a commonplace observation. But ever since the sexual revolution of the 1960s and the rise of feminism, we’re all supposed to pretend that women can do any job that men can do.
Unless it’s winning a tennis or a soccer match against other men.
But does anyone seriously think that a female cop is going to be the least bit of use when it comes to taking down a violent suspect? Anyone who disagrees is welcome to watch the nightmarish footage of a female police officer getting beaten to a pulp by Muslim thugs in a UK airport.
Theetge is in fact a poster-girl for the corrosive effect of diversity quotas in jobs like policing.
In a press conference this week about the violence in downtown Cincinnati, Theetge scolded the news media and the public for sharing and commenting on video footage of the incident posted on social media. The footage, she said, didn’t “depict the entire incident,” and showed only “one version of what occurred.”
What’s other versions can there possibly be? A racist mob brutally beat a helpless group of hopelessly outnumbered people. If it had been whites beating a black woman, it would be headline news for the rest of the decade. But, because it’s blacks beating a white woman, we’re not even supposed to notice it.
Theetge reacts exactly as you know a middle-aged, middle-class, ‘progressive’ white woman is going to act. By scolding anyone who notices like a fishwife.
Instead of taking responsibility for her department’s failure and condemning the attack against the woman in particular, Theetge is concerned about the perception of the incident on social media, that it might create an impression that runs contrary to social justice and left-wing nostrums about race in America. So she emotionalizes the entire thing, refusing to answer direct questions about what context is missing from the video.
One context that’s missing is that Theetge is neck-deep in the DEI cult. So much so that she’s currently being sued for discrimination – against white males.
“The city and Chief Theetge have actively and systemically undertaken efforts to promote, advance, and make promotion and assignment decisions that are preferable to women and minorities, and to the exclusion of White men,” the lawsuit argues.
The officers who brought the suit claim they were passed over for preferred assignments, and that ever since Theetge became chief in 2022, a race-based quota system has been used to promote women and racial minorities.
This should come as no surprise. Major cities run by Democrats have a habit of making woke women police chiefs.
Not unlike Melbourne, here in Australia, where Christine Nixon abandoned her post during catastrophic bushfires to have a nice meal with friends and get her hair done. Guess you have to look your best when you’re at the podium announcing how many hundred people have just been fried to death in their homes.
As one commentator at Red State noted, New York, New Orleans, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Washington, Oakland, Portland, Louisville, and Seattle, in addition to Cincinnati, all have female police chiefs. Nearly 90 per cent of police officers are men, yet all these cities have female police chiefs. Why? We all know why. Theetge’s own social media bio makes it clear: she calls herself an “advocate for inclusion,” and you know what that means.
As Jordan Peterson likes to point out, countries that have given men and women the freest choice to pursue the jobs they prefer, rather than artificially imposing quotas, are most likely to see men and women pursuing ‘traditionally gendered’ careers. Much as the left, still in thrall to the Soviet ‘New Man’ ideology, hate to admit it, men and women in general tend to be better at, and prefer to do, different things.
Trying to force us to do otherwise just never ends well.
