Andrew Little has signalled yet again that he is hell-bent on repealing the three-strikes law. God only knows why as the rationale for repeal is rather spurious:
The law that resulted in a man being sentenced to seven years in jail for grabbing a prison guard’s bottom is likely to be booted.
The Labour Party has vowed to repeal the three strikes law, introduced by the National-led government in 2010.
“Labour has committed to repeal the three strikes law which is leading to absurd results and instead focus on building a criminal justice system that ensures less crime, less offending and fewer victims of crime who are better supported,” caretaker Minister of Justice Andrew Little said.
It would be inappropriate to comment further until the cabinet positions are finalised, Little said.
So he kicks a speculator out there and then ducks for cover.
They will repeal it because Labour is the party for criminals.
One day in the near future someone is going to get killed and it will be by a person who should have been in prison under the three-strikes law, but is now roaming free because of Labour’s criminal friendly disposition.
When that happens the death can be squarely laid at the feet of Andrew Little and Jacinda Ardern for allowing it to happen.
Not sure how that can ever be claimed as a kindness, but we shall see how they spin it when it happens.
