The Babylon Bee advertises itself as “Fake News You Can Trust”. They entertain and educate by poking fun at the media, admirably dishing out well-deserved disdain for an industry that may end up responsible for its own demise.

Headlining this week was Trump Pleads Guilty to Being an Incredible Lover, referring to the fact that criminal charges were laid against him. It’s unlikely Trump will sue the Babylon Bee. It’s more likely he will be chuffed about their coverage of charges designed to prevent him from succeeding in the next election.

NEW YORK, NY — Crowds gathering in support of President Donald Trump to protest his arraignment on criminal charges were stunned to hear that Trump was preparing to enter a guilty plea but were later relieved to learn that Trump’s plea only admitted his guilt in the affair with Stormy Daniels and of being an incredible lover.

“I am truly guilty, I must say,” President Trump said in a statement released by his legal team. “I have to admit it. I am an amazing, wonderful, passionate, tender, and attentive lover, one of the greatest in all of human history. Many agree with me. Women all over the world could provide evidence to convict me on the charge of being the greatest lover, so I must confess. It’s true. Bigly!”

Trump is battle-hardened to media but it’s not easy to laugh when serious subjects are deliberately neglected and misrepresented. Ani O’Brien asks in her article Who is Chris Hipkins so Afraid of?, how we will survive election year given the appalling media misrepresentation?

“I don’t know how we get through this. I don’t know how we can have a fair election when our media is so politicised and powerful. They will decide that certain minor parties are beneath them and they will not give them fair air time. They will set the agenda as to what is ‘acceptable’ and expect the political parties to fall in line. We will get partial information, curated to serve what they see as the ‘right’ outcome.”

Plain Sight

Yes, they will do all that and much more besides. It’s a foregone conclusion that media have great form in a particular version of the truth, but the answer to the problem is blowing in the wind. The wind has changed.

More New Zealanders than ever are aware that NZ media are biased. We know good people are misrepresented, Brian Tamaki for example, and the pathetically undeserving are embellished as happened with this year’s Youth of the Year winner. Media distort the facts and fail to report those that don’t suit them.

But we can take heart in the results of a survey carried out by the AUT research centre for Journalism, Media and Democracy (JMAD). They reported that just 42% of New Zealanders trust what they read in NZ news, a whopping 10% drop from two years ago. If this trend continues media will soon be extinct.

That’s why Duncan and Tova crying into their lattes about being sacked don’t garner any sympathy. Watch the door on your way out guys, it’s time for you to leave. It’s no good whining about turning around poor ratings in the promised four years remaining when the tide has turned against you. It simply won’t work.

Parting company with traditional values and burying the truth for woke ideology cost you your audience. No one is interested in your opinion.

Mediaworks will axe Today FM just to stay afloat. If that isn’t natural justice for media that sold us Covid strategies that didn’t work and ultimately triggered an economic collapse, I don’t know what is.

Media weren’t the slightest bit interested in the obvious economic downside of draconian Covid policies, but suddenly they are extremely interested in self-preservation. Ironic, isn’t it? Change the way you report and stay in business or continue going woke and go broke.

Remember John Campbell’s highly embarrassing emotive drivel presented as prime time news? He temporarily elevated himself to new heights of stupidity before the public switched off and sent him hurtling ignominiously to the ground. He didn’t know it at the time, but a trend had begun.

The last few years have crystallised what is important to our ideologically driven media. It isn’t conservatism or Christianity or even hard-working folk; oh no, these are now passe.

Media are much more interested in the extremists lurking on the fringes of society – and don’t those little stars just love the airtime! An extraordinary pursuit of notoriety and victimhood was displayed by the tranny who threw tomato juice over Kelli-Jay Keen-Minshull. “I did assault her and I will do it again,” she said. “And if I need to be ten years in prison I’m happy to be ten years in prison.” Ten years of martyrdom is plenty of time to tweet old travel photos and pretend to be somewhere other than prison.

Media love the migrants in government who strangely criticise the country that took them in, and the government they are currently part of, by demanding that we change, but who have no concern for their country of birth and the injustices they fled.

Media bellow for more assistance for the lazy – those busily and creatively ripping off our generous welfare system. Media support the anti-social, openly despising traditional family values. The more someone rails against tradition, the better the media love them.

We were tricked by media representing Covid strategy as being science-based despite the very obvious fact that such new technology didn’t have a strong track record. The consequences of passing off ideology as science are arguably more severe regarding health issues than not reporting the moment when our prime minister froze on camera and refused to acknowledge biological women don’t have penises and biological men can’t have babies. This was the subject of O’Brien’s article: when the PM was afraid to give the correct answer lest he offend transgenders.

This is where we are right now. You can call it clown world where woke ideology has tipped the scale from sanity to insanity, and it could be the reason why the public have reached peak media saturation and simply doesn’t believe them now.

If that is the case, media growth will henceforth be confined to platforms that aim to present the truth and allow open discussion. A vast improvement on what we have now.
