Squealing Now That She’s Found Out

If you don’t want a criminal record, don’t firebomb Jewish MPs offices.

If they believe in the cause so much, why do they hide their faces? The Good Oil. Photoshop by Lushington Brady.

The ‘pro-Palestinian’ goon squad just keeps on fucking around and finding out.
First, it was fancy restaurant-owner Al Yazbek, whose clientele and corporate partners dropped his business like a rock after he was arrested and convicted for brandishing Nazi and Hezbollah symbols. Then lawyer Damien Hazard capped off months of tweets attacking Israel with a personal attack on prominent Jewish Australian Jeremy Leibler. Not such a smart move when you work at a firm with many Jewish clients that is currently planning a merger with a prominent Jewish-American legal firm.

Well, nobody ever said that anti-Semites were the sharpest tools in the shed. They also have a habit of squealing like pigs when they’re caught out.

A teenager charged with causing $55,000 worth of damage during an attack on Jewish Labor MP Josh Burns’ Melbourne electorate office is seeking to avoid a criminal record by diversion.

It’s all fun and Kristallnacht until you get caught, isn’t it?

She should be grateful the Albanese government was too gutless to call it what it was and lay appropriate charges: a terror attack.

Matilda McDermott, 19, was charged over the vandalism attack in which windows were smashed, and slogans, including “Zionism is fascism”, were spray-painted on Mr Burns’ St Kilda electorate office in the early hours of June 19.

Small fires were also lit in the telecommunications pit at the front of the Barkly St building during the incident.

At the time, concerns were raised that the fires could have endangered the people who lived in the residential apartments above the office.

In addition to the charges relating to the trespass and vandalism of Mr Burns’ office, Ms McDermott was charged with damaging the Honorary Consulate General of France on St Kilda Rd in a separate incident on 17 July.

She is also facing a charge of failing to comply with an order to provide police with a phone password.

The prosecution is not seeking a ‘diversion’, which would allow the teenage terrorist to escape without a criminal record.

Meanwhile, Burns is toeing the Labor Party line and trying to minimise the attack.

“This was a distressing experience for my staff and surrounding tenants. But we have since reopened and returned to the work that we all love – helping my local and diverse community of Macnamara.

“The decisions we make as young people don’t have to define our whole lives.”

Except that there’s a bit of a difference between, say, shoplifting and firebombing a Jewish MP’s offices in the name of Gazan terrorists. Play Hamas games, win Hamas prizes.

Victoria being Australia’s Wokest State, though, a judge has already let one of the attackers off without a conviction.

A 17-year-old alleged vandal charged over a pro-Palestinian attack that caused more than $100,000 worth of damage to Jewish Labor MP Josh Burns’ electorate office, during which he allegedly hit the glass facade 14 times with a sledgehammer, is on track to avoid a criminal conviction.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and an 18-year-old woman were charged over the vandalism attack in which windows were smashed and slogans, including “Zionism is fascism”, were spray-painted on the St Kilda electorate office of Mr Burns on June 19. Police allege the boy caused $55,000 worth of damage in the alleged vandalism spree that left taxpayers with an total estimated bill of $101,417 […]

In court, magistrate Elizabeth Langdon […] said she had read the boy’s report and was “particularly impressed” by his “really insightful reflections”.

I mean, it wouldn’t be as if he’s just telling the court exactly what he knows they want to hear. Teenagers might be tiny-brained followers, but they’re rat cunning at coming up with excuses when they’re caught.
