Do you still think ‘they are us’? That there’s a ‘moderate mainstream’ Islamic community? Then you’re not paying attention.
Jacinda Ardern’s mangled phrase was never more than an oxymoronic wittering in the first place, but there was at least a superficial credibility to the claim that a ‘moderate mainstream’ quietly dominated the Islamic community. Pay no attention to a few fringe loudmouths, we were told.
Except that anyone who’s paying attention can’t help but notice that it’s not a few and it’s not the fringe.
This is mainstream Islam in Australia:
Pro-Palestinian teachers have vowed to defy a crackdown ordered by the Minns government after they led dozens of schoolchildren in chants of “Allahu Akbar” (God is the greatest) outside a western Sydney public school on Wednesday.
Note how the media are still trying to blow smoke up our arses. The jihadi war-cry means Allah is the greatest. It’s a declaration of Islamic supremacy.
Education Minister Prue Car had warned teachers at Granville Boys High School they must perform their duties “impartially” and “apolitically”, and told students they faced disciplinary action if they attended protests.
But activists from Teachers and School Staff for Palestine – who waved Palestinian and Lebanese flags and led children on chants through loudhailers – declared they would return to the school at 9am to continue the protest.
Here’s a few facts you might want to know about Granville Boys High School.
Granville Boys High School (550 students, 99 per cent non-English-speaking background) […] is located in South Western Sydney, which is the most multicultural region in Australia. The majority of the boys who attend this school are of Arabic-speaking background and Muslim faith […]
This wonderful, culturally and linguistically diverse community […] is committed to providing a safe and challenging learning environment within which values of academic achievement, equity, respect, safety and citizenship are actively promoted.
So diverse and safe! So much respect!
Unless, of course, you’re Jewish.
As for ‘citizenship’, note the flags: ‘Palestinian’. Lebanese. Not one Australian flag.
This latest outburst of moderate Islamic moderation was triggered by the recent video of two Sydney Muslim nurses bragging about killing Jewish patients. Was the moderate Islamic community shocked and ashamed? No, they were outraged – outraged that the nurses were punished. Dozens of mainstream Muslim organisations and community leaders signed an open letter defending the nurses. Including cleric Sheikh Wesam Charkawi, Australian National Imams Council member, convener of The Muslim Vote – and ‘support officer’ at Granville Boys.
The protesters demanded the return to school of support officer Sheik Wesam Charkawi, who was ordered by the NSW Education Department to work from home after defending the two nurses in an Instagram post […]
The Muslim Vote convener was ordered to take down the posts and work from home for allegedly breaching the department’s social media policy and code of ethics. Sheik Charkawi has since removed the video.
Granville Boys is, no surprises, smack in the middle of Sydney’s Muslim Belt. The same suburbs which erupted into spontaneous celebrations following October 7. The same communities who marched on the Sydney Opera House, chanting ‘Gas the Jews’.
Still think they are us?
They are Labor, though.
The act of defiance sets the scene for a confrontation that could spill into the election campaign of federal Education Minister Jason Clare, whose Blaxland electorate takes in the school.
Well, they can always rely on Penny Wong to have their back.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong failed to meet Israeli representatives on a United Nations trip late last year where she demanded the Jewish homeland halt its military actions against terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah, instead sitting down with Iran, the Palestinian Authority and ex-New Zealand leader Jacinda Ardern.
Imagine meeting with such evil. Not to mention Iran and the Palestinian Authority.
