Straight From the Left Playbook

The American public are being fed a dialogue that smells of a cover up. Right-wing supporters are not buying it. If there’s nothing to see here, why is Ghislaine Maxwell languishing in jail for 20 years? Something doesn’t add up.

Who would have believed it? Trump allowing behaviour more akin to the Democrats and appearing to support it. Lack of transparency, a possible cover up, the truth being manipulated to suit the narrative, explanations in short supply, protecting who and why: all behavioural traits one usually associates with the Democrats. But in this case it’s Trump and members of his cabinet resorting to the left-wing playbook.

President Donald Trump, Attorney-General Pam Bondi and Director of the FBI Kash Patel, for whatever reason, have decided not to release the Epstein Files or comment further on the case. The case is effectively closed. If they have good reason to do so, that should be disclosed. Instead, the American public are being fed a dialogue that smells of a cover up. Right-wing supporters are not buying it.

After the election, the American people were told this will be the most transparent administration ever – until now. They have maintained all along there is a ‘client list’ and it will be released. Pam Bondi said some weeks ago, “It is on my desk waiting for review.” Bondi now maintains there is no list. If she can’t prove her change in stance, we are left to conclude that is a bald-faced lie.

There may not be a ‘client list’ but there most definitely is a list with certain high profile names on it. Alan Dershowitz, a leading American legal expert, has seen the list and knows exactly who is on it, but is bound by confidentiality from speaking. The question on everybody’s lips is who are they trying to protect? Dershowitz believes he knows and that there is deliberate suppression of the names, which he says is wrong.

I have a friend who believes a lot of the names on the list may be those of innocent people who visited the island and this could be a reason for withholding the release of the names. That could well be correct. His view is the list should be disposed of as being historical and now serves no useful purpose. Some credence can be attached to that proposition; however, that is not the view of those in the MAGA movement and it is these people Trump cannot afford to get offside with.

If they think closing the case is going to end matters, they are completely wrong – naïve no less. It brings into question the understanding they have of their support base. I’m talking about the MAGA crowd who are, quite rightly, up in arms and livid about the behaviour on display. They are calling for Bondi to go but that’s unlikely to happen because she appears to have a special (political) relationship with Trump. They are both from Florida where Bondi was previously the State Attorney-General.

Disappointment in Trump is also evident. This whole debacle has thrown up something else that’s interesting and that is how differently supporters of the left and right react to happenings within their own parties. Cast your mind back to the Biden presidency and all the corruption and politicisation of the Deep State: crickets from Democrat supporters then and their friends in the left-wing media.

Fast forward to today and MAGA supporters are not standing for this type of behaviour. There is no doubt a sense of betrayal at the thought of a cover up, because, unless things are explained differently, that’s exactly what it looks like. Right-wing supporters will not countenance this type of governance. They want the list and the names revealed with NO REDACTIONS. To them, this sort of behaviour is unbecoming to right-wing politics and the quicker those involved understand that the better.

Left supporters, along with the left media, don’t care what their government does as long as it is the one in power. They are blindly supportive to the point that how their politicians behave is of little consequence. The laptop, the laundering of money, the politicisation of government departments, the persecution of Trump, Biden’s mental health…they either didn’t care about these things or, as in Trump’s case, were highly supportive. There were cover ups galore.

Not so the right. This is one hell of a mess Trump and certain members of his administration have got themselves into and it’s anybody’s guess how they get out of it. Equally interesting is the left wing media’s almost total silence. They had all the current information when they were in power. If, for example, there was any incriminating evidence about Trump, why didn’t they use it prior to the election instead of the flimsy nonsense they took to court, relying on biased left judges to get them a conviction. Even today the left media are being unusually quiet.

So there is a lot at play here but one thing is for sure, if Trump doesn’t sort this calamity out, the “You’re fired” line he is so famous for might well be used against him. All his good work so far risks being undone. As an aside, Trump now has two things in common with Luxon, both are taking a hit in the polls but both will probably survive because the alternatives are so much worse.

Oh and, by the way, if there’s nothing to see here, why is Ghislaine Maxwell languishing in jail for 20 years? Something doesn’t add up.
