We hear a lot of lecturing from the media-political establishment these days about “extremism”. Coincidentally, I’m sure, it’s always “extremism” from their political opposites. BLM and Antifa, for instance, are rarely described as “violent extremists”, despite billions of dollars of property damage and dozens of murders stemming
When is a gang not a gang? When it’s a group of “networked criminal offenders”. When is a random attack not random? When it’s “random” but “believed to be linked”. When is ethnic-based crime not ethnic-based crime? When media and police won’t tell you what
When you’re at the top, there’s only one way left for you to go — and the earlier you peak, the sooner you’ll start going downhill. This was the brutal lesson of the Kevin Rudd prime ministership. “Kevin07” went roaring straight to the top of the opinion polls,
If you’ve tried reasoning with a religious cultist or an Amway representative, you know how it goes. They’re completely immune to evidence and persuasion. Every time you show where they’re wrong, they simple switch to the next rote-learned talking-point that’s been debunked a dozen
It’s dizzying, trying to keep up with the left’s spin and turn-abouts. One minute, they’re furiously silence anyone who tries to talk about appalling domestic violence in Aboriginal communities, the next, they’re wringing their hankies that no one told them about appalling domestic violence in
Australia continues to revel in the diverse, vibrant tapestry of mass migration and capital-Multiculturalism. First we had the terror attacks, then the forced child marriages — now it’s time for the “honour” killings. A family accused of trying to kill a young Muslim woman in “an attempted honour killing”
The Anthony Albanese government has handed down its first budget, and it’s a shocker. Even Labor’s taxpayer-funded media wing, the ABC, concedes that “The poor will pay” while “the rich […] will do fine”. Grabbing particular headlines is Labor’s turn-around on power prices: after promising no
The drama just never stops, in the Brittany Higgins–Bruce Lehrmann rape accusation saga. A week after Higgins went AWOL mid-testimony for a week, the jury has been dismissed. After first failing to reach a verdict, the jury was dismissed after claims a juror had brought outside research into
Over the last five years, the difference between a “conspiracy theory” and “news” has become a mere matter of time. Even more notably, the difference between “dangerous misinformation” and “The Science™” has narrowed to just a few months. Just a few months ago, it was “The Science™” that Covid vaccines
You can’t say Labor aren’t looking after their base, with their first budget. The workers, you ask? Oh, you sweet, summer child — Labor’s base hasn’t been the workers for decades. The last Labor pollie to ever actually work in a job that wasn’t publicly funded
The socialist left are not exactly renowned for their original thinking, nor for learning from history. So, with Jacinda Ardern’s Kiwibuild a dismal failure, Anthony Albanese says, “Hold my shandy!” Look anywhere in Australia and you’ll see a housing market under intense pressure. It makes the federal government’
And, just like that, the appalling violence endured by Aboriginal Australian women and children is The Current Thing. Leftist Twitter (a tautology, I apologise) has lit up with a wave of pearl-clutching and virtue-signalling wailing unlike any since they were all pasting blue-and-yellow flags next to
As I’ve been reporting, the left are suddenly all a-Twitter about this week’s Current Thing: appalling domestic violence in Aboriginal communities. Yet, this horrifying state of affairs has been well known for years — for anyone who bothered to notice. But, as some Aboriginal Australians have dared to
To fix a problem, you first have to acknowledge, truthfully, what it is. But for all the self-serving palaver from the likes of Linda Burney, Minister for Indigenous Australians, about “truth-telling”, there’s one brutal home truth that none of them will acknowledge. The systemic violence of Aboriginal
Tell me this isn’t a Labor government: inflation spiking, taxes surging and spending blowouts on welfare. Tax and spend, all the way. Jim Chalmers will more than halve the deficit this financial year to $36.9bn but faces a deteriorating budget bottom line in the years leading to the
