Basically because they are bent, biased and no longer relevant. But the academics think it’s because right wingers hate the news.
State coercion never resolves the problems it sets out to address but only gives rise to new and worse problems.
Politicians turn to the bureaucrats, who face no public accountability and often spend decades in their cushy jobs, who spoon feed them their agenda.
The unfortunate lesson for the charity sector therefore seems to be that it’s not what you do, it’s who you know.

Clearly, it’s time for reform in this area. But it won’t happen without public pressure on the politicians.
