I’ve encountered professions with more ridiculously outsized egos than teachers – but few outside the newsrooms of the legacy media.
That’s not to say that all teachers are up themselves. Some of them (far fewer by the year, if students’ results are anything to go by) are even pretty good teachers. But, familiarity breeding contempt, perhaps, my own brief time working in the education sector did nothing to endear me to teachers as a profession.
Rarely have I encountered so many people of such mediocre gifts, so utterly convinced of their own worth. Nor so prickly about criticism.
I was forcefully reminded of this when I recently wrote that teachers might want to spend less time in the classroom indoctrinating, and more teaching. Hoo, boy, did that get teachers’ knickers in a twist. “We don’t indoctrinate our students!” they indignantly spluttered.
Oh, really? Explain this, then:
The AEU, IEU and NTEU support the School Strike 4 Climate and Australian school students in their fight for environmental justice and action on the climate emergency.
Together we represent more than 200,000 members working in the education sector. As teachers and educators we bear witness to the will, determination and passion alive in our students in their fight for action on climate change on a daily basis.

Or this?
Activism is more important than grades. Any responsible teacher should be encouraging their pupils to walk out.

I could go on, but let’s look at a specific case which tells us everything we need to understand.
Over the past few years, various teachers have been caught training children to be activists in one-sided political battles, and that is exactly what Ariane Franco has been caught boasting about.
Ariane Franco is a New York middle school teacher. But instead of imparting core curriculum knowledge like math, science or English, she openly admitted to an undercover Project Veritas journalist that she has been teaching students to become violent protesters for months. She specifically instructs them to get organized in order to throw bricks at people that she believes need to change.
This isn’t just brow-beating kids with Climate Cultist nonsense, or brainwashing them to believe that boys can be girls, and that men can get pregnant. This is directly inciting racial violence.
She laid out how best to do this. “You want to… I brought up [a] crazy organization that have done this. Like, they chose which places to throw bricks in.” Ariane Franco noted not to do this in their own neighborhoods but to go out of “black and brown communities” to violently attack others.
Not black and brown, so… white, Asian or Jewish. All communities which have seen spiralling violence directed at them in recent years.
The name of the school that Ariane Franco works for has yet to be disclosed.

It doesn’t need to be. It could be any school, anywhere in the West.
Just tell a good lefty (meaning: nearly all of them) teacher that. On everything from the climate to gender, to their own failures, they’re violently resistant to facts.
