Every time some fatuous idiot prattles about ‘the moderate Muslim majority’, I’m moved to ask: ‘Where?’ Because there sure seem to be a hell of a lot of extremists.
Maybe the ‘moderates’ are hiding somewhere behind the mobs bellowing ‘Gas the Jews!’ on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. Maybe they’re at home making kibbeh while thousands of their fellows are out marching, week on week, chanting the Hamas genocidal war cry, ‘From the River to the Sea’. Or maybe they’re just quietly gathering for Friday prayers at the mosques and Islamic centres.
Yeah, about those…
A leading Muslim organisation enlisted a prominent Hizb ut-Tahrir activist for five years hosting “youth-focused workshops” and prayer services while it received hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal government funding.
The Australian can reveal Stand 4 Palestine organiser and Hizb ut-Tahrir activist Mohammed al-Wahwah worked with prominent organisation United Muslims of Australia for a five-year period up to at least mid-2023.
The UMA has trousered millions in Australian taxpayers’ money to ‘promote social cohesion’. At the same time it was giving a platform to what is a proscribed terror group in many countries, including many Islamic countries. Countries the Hizbies are banned from include Bangladesh, China, Russia, Pakistan, India, Germany, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Kazakhstan and ‘across Central Asia’, Indonesia and all Arab countries except Lebanon, Yemen and the UAE. The organisation is rightly banned for promoting and actively encouraging anti-Semitism and terrorism.
So much for social cohesion.
As for ‘moderate Islam’…
The UMA was established and is run by prominent Muslim leader Sheik Shadi Alsuleiman, a respected figure who is part of the NSW government’s Faith Affairs Council and president of the Australian National Imams Council.
Well, isn’t that ‘moderate’? As for ‘respected figure’ Alsuleiman, this is the fellow who gained notoriety for preaching about the ‘evil’ of homosexuality.
The moderation just keeps on coming from these fellows.
Separately, sheik Ibrahim Dadoun, who remains one of UMA’s imams, told a Hizb ut-Tahrir-organised rally the day after Hamas’s October 7, 2023 massacre that he was “elated and smiling”.
How very ‘moderate’.
Surely, though, elected Muslim representatives in parliament are the very model of the modern moderate Muslim? When two Muslim nurses in Sydney bragged on video about killing Jews in the hospital they worked out, surely the moderate Muslim community representatives unequivocally condemned their anti-Semitic hatred?
Once more, better think again.
A statement from the United Muslim Community, which included the peak Muslim body the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, and political umbrella group The Muslim Vote, as well as, you guessed it, Hizb ut-Tahrir, united to claim that the Muslim nurses were the real victims. Senator Fatima Payman whined that they had been treated unfairly.
It is shocking that a group such as The Muslim Vote, which is trying to attract mainstream votes, would choose to align itself with hate preachers and Hizb ut-Tahrir, a proscribed terror organisation in other countries that has a history of celebrating attacks against Israel and Jews. By doing so The Muslim Vote is normalising one of the worst examples of anti-Semitism we’ve seen here.
Then there are people suggesting the video is some Zionist plot.
Ah, yes, it’s always the Joos fault when Muslims conspicuously fail to be ‘moderate’ or ‘peaceful’.
Yes, but, the idiotic defenders of Islamic extremism bleat, Muslims will soon adopt peaceful, moderate, Western ways.
Once again: be buggered they will. As surveys in numerous Western countries like Britain show, successive generations of Muslims born in the West are even more radical than their immigrant parents and grandparents. And no wonder, with hateful clowns like this tub-thumping from the minbars of ‘moderate’ mosques.
A cleric at a newly established Islamic centre in Melbourne backed by radical Sydney preacher Wissam Haddad has lamented that young Australian Muslims are being “brainwashed … falling victim to liberal ideologies”, and that the first words spoken by a child shouldn’t be mother or father but “Allah”.
Now, don’t think he’s using ‘liberal’ in the bastardised American political sense of ‘far-left progressivism’. No, he means the most basic values of Western democracy.
With a slick social-media footprint, a preacher known as Brother Abu Ahmad warned Al Bayyinah’s congregation – and followers on YouTube and TikTok – that young Australian Muslims were converting to “liberal ideologies” and becoming “desensitised” to what was forbidden in Islam […] such as “haram relationships” and certain music, and seeing women without religious headdress, lamenting how it had become the “new normal”.
‘Haram relationships’, by the way, include a Muslim woman consorting with a non-Muslim. Indeed, the Koran sternly reminds Muslims to not even be friends with Jews and Christians.
So… tell me again where these ‘moderate Muslims’ are? And why are we giving millions of our taxes to the very much not-moderate kind?
