You really have to listen to this: Josie Pagani on Mike Hosking’s show yesterday. She said a number of interesting things, especially that she believes that the next Labour Prime Minister isn’t even in caucus yet. But the most important thing she said is that Labour believes they lost because they weren’t left-wing enough!
It beggars belief that the Labour caucus thinks they need to be more left-wing or more like the nutters in the Greens.
The electorate resoundingly rejected the woke and left-wing politics of division, inter-sectionalisation and communism. Nearly 53% of voters voted against the left, the hard left and the racists of the Maori party.
If Labour thinks that they need to go harder left then they’re welcome to it, and their vote will plummet even further. It would appear that they really are that stupid.
Kiwis like a fair deal and a fair go. What Labour stood for was anything but, and the results, particularly in Auckland, show that.
The stark difference between Wellington and the rest of New Zealand is important. Wellington is home to the press gallery, to most of the public service and views and voting preferences here are completely different to Auckland, provincial and rural New Zealand.
In Wellington the left win by a massive 19% while in Auckland the right win by an equally massive 19%. Auckland is of course around four times the population of Wellington.
David Farrar
Wellington and the liberal loonies of the Labour Party have no idea about the rest of the country. They live in a bubble.
This is most telling when you look at how the vote fell in Auckland, which was locked up by Ardern harder and for longer than the rest of the country. National scored 45% in the polls across Auckland. They only got 38.06% in the party vote nationwide. Labour lost because they lost Auckland.
So while Labour and the Greens are strong in Wellington, they are outvoted because Auckland is four times larger than Wellington.
Labour is dreamin’ if they think going harder left will fix things.
Perhaps they should give renowned political advisor Darryl Kerrigan a call, so he can tell them they’re dreamin.

Expenses are growing, ad revenue is shrinking. Things have to change otherwise we will need to cut services. We don’t want to have to do that. It’s really up to you.
