By 8 am Auckland was in gridlock. At 9 am when most retailers would open, Queen St was in turmoil without those parking spaces. Most motorists were blaming the motorcyclists, as this deliberate move to bring Auckland CBD to its knees was kept reasonably quiet so no media warning of this protest parking strategy had been published.
