As part of our drive to keep our comment section the best in New Zealand we showcase each week an example of a top-notch comment that adds value to The BFD.

Today’s comment was written by Joe 90. Thank you Joe 90 for taking the time to craft such an interesting comment.

Well, all. Not sure if many will remember a post I put up earlier in the week that I had contracted the Covid Lurgi. Of those BFDers that live in New Zealand, not many will have had the virus, so I thought an update of my recuperation may provide somewhat of an insight.

First of all, I am an ex-pat Kiwi that has lived between Singapore and Jakarta for the last 27 years. I am currently in Jakarta and contracted the lurgi here. I am anti masks and was very nonchalant about the virus. Until I contracted it. I have had a close English friend die of respiratory complications associated with the virus here in Jakarta this last week, so my attitude to it has been revised slightly.

Mrs 90 also contracted the virus obviously from me prior to me realising I had it, which is not good. I have always been fortunate with health and cannot remember the last time I had a snivel, let alone flu or worse, but Mrs 90 is a bit more susceptible and this lurgi has hit her harder.

We have been ill for a week now. My symptoms were cough and general lack of energy, for which I am getting better, but Mrs 90 has had chills, sweats, cough, sore throat, severe fatigue, and temperature spikes as her body has been fighting the infection. We purchased an O2 mete and have been monitoring this. Fortunately, both our Oxygen saturation levels are at 98/99 %.

We are isolating at home and had a nurse over to the house yesterday morning to do another PCR test as wanted to check to see if our CT levels had improved. The CT level is an indication of the amount of Viral load in the body. We will get the results later this morning. Will update further later.

Although my attitude has changed, I still am of the opinion that the virus is just a severe flu. Protect the old, weak, and immune-compromised. New Zealand and the world need to realise this and get on with it.

New Zealand lockdowns have destroyed lives, livelihoods, and the economy. Time to stop the nonsense.
